BTS has once again demonstrated its global influence.
On the 7th, the global music streaming service Apple Music released a list of the 500 most played songs on its platform worldwide over the past decade. BTS showcased its strength by placing two songs, 'Dynamite' (34th) and 'Butter' (252nd), on the chart. BTS is the only K-pop group to appear on this chart.
'Dynamite,' released in 2020, is BTS's first English-language song since debuting. It is a bright and upbeat disco pop song, harmonizing an infectious rhythm with a lively and dynamic performance. They conveyed a message of hope with this song, providing comfort to many during the difficult times caused by COVID-19.
With 'Dynamite,' BTS became the first Korean artist to reach No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard main song chart, the Hot 100, and maintained the top position for three weeks. Additionally, they won the 'Best Song' award at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards and the 'Top Selling Song' trophy at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards with this song. BTS was nominated for a Grammy Award, one of the three major music award ceremonies in the world, and received a diamond certification in the streaming sector from the Japan Record Association in the shortest time ever (over 500 million streams), marking a significant record.
'Butter,' released in 2021, also achieved notable success. This song topped the Hot 100 for a total of 10 weeks, drawing global attention. It also garnered accolades at several award shows, including being named 'Favorite Pop Song' at the 2021 American Music Awards and 'Top Selling Song' at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. With 'Butter,' BTS was nominated for the 2022 Grammy Awards, marking their place as award nominees for two consecutive years following 'Dynamite.'
Meanwhile, BTS will release their live album 'PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LIVE' on July 18 at 1 p.m. This will be BTS's first-ever live album. The album includes a selection of 22 songs performed during the tour of the same name from 2021 to 2022, featuring stages such as 'ON,' 'FIRE,' 'Dope,' and 'IDOL.'
