BTS has once again proven its global influence.
On the 7th, the global music streaming service Apple Music released a list of the 500 most-played songs on their platform worldwide over the past decade. BTS showcased its strength by placing two tracks on the chart: "Dynamite" at 34th and "Butter" at 252nd. BTS is the only K-pop group to have its name on this chart.
"Dynamite," released in 2020, is the first English song presented by BTS since its debut. It is a bright and upbeat disco pop song, featuring an addictive rhythm and a dynamic performance. During the difficult time when the world was grappling with COVID-19, this song conveyed a message of hope and comfort to many people.
BTS reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with "Dynamite," becoming the first Korean artist to achieve this feat and holding the top spot for three weeks. Additionally, with this song, they won the trophies for "Best Song" at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards and "Top Selling Song" at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. BTS was nominated for a Grammy Award, one of the three major music awards, and received a diamond certification for streaming from the Japan Record Association in the shortest time in history, achieving over 500 million streams.
Released in 2021, "Butter" also achieved monumental success. This song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a total of 10 weeks, capturing the world's attention. It also performed well at various award ceremonies, winning "Favorite Pop Song" at the 2021 American Music Awards and being recognized as the "Top Selling Song" at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. With "Butter," BTS was nominated for the 2022 Grammy Awards, marking two consecutive years of being award nominees following "Dynamite."
Meanwhile, BTS will release the live performance album "PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LIVE" on July 18 at 1 p.m. This will be BTS's first-ever live album. It features a selection of 22 songs performed during the tour of the same name, held from 2021 to 2022, including tracks like "ON," "Fire," "Ddaeng," and "IDOL."
