The group BLACKPINK dazzled the summer night with an overwhelming live performance. Returned as a full group for the first time in about two years, they proved their 'queen's return' with a magnificent presence that made the hiatus seem insignificant.
BLACKPINK held the 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR 'DEADLINE' IN GOYANG' at Goyang Sports Complex on the 5th and 6th, opening the new world tour. This performance was a solo tour that took place about 1 year and 10 months after the 'BORN PINK' tour, setting a new record as the first K-pop girl group to step into Goyang Sports Complex.
A total of 78,000 spectators filled the venue over the two days, reaffirming why they are called the 'global top girl group.'
The 'DEADLINE' tour was a showcase of BLACKPINK's musical journey and identity. World-class sessions and dancers, who have worked with Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, were involved, and the large screens and concert-specific sound systems made their stage even more dramatic.
The performance began with 'Kill This Love,' followed by representative BLACKPINK songs like 'Pink Venom,' 'How You Like That,' and 'Shut Down' that excited the audience non-stop. Continuing with songs like 'Whistle,' 'Lovesick Girls,' and 'Pretty Savage,' the blend of sensual performances and a lethal atmosphere once again solidified the presence of the queens on stage.
In particular, this day was also the first time BLACKPINK revealed their new song 'Jump' after 2 years and 8 months. The members showcased the new song performance, saying, 'This is a special song you can only hear in Goyang today,' and the fans responded with cheers and loud singing. In the midst of the hot and addictive rhythm, BLACKPINK created another moment that opens a new era.
Additionally, each of the four members showcased an expanded musical world through their solo stages. Jisoo presented soft charisma with 'Earthquake' and 'Your Love,' Lisa offered powerful performances with 'Rockstar' and 'New Woman,' Jennie displayed overwhelming stage dominance with 'Mantra,' 'with the IE (way up),' and 'Like JENNIE,' while Rosé delivered delicate emotions and thrilling exhilaration with '3AM,' 'toxic till the end,' and 'APT.'
At the end of the performance, BLACKPINK delivered 'Jump' as an encore, turning the venue into one giant party. They followed up with spectacular performances of 'REALLY' and 'SEE YOU LATER,' perfectly wrapping up their first show in Goyang.
The concert clearly demonstrated why BLACKPINK is a global top group. The exceptional live performance, command of the stage, and powerful performances that shook the vast stadium revealed that the members have evolved further through their solo activities.
Lisa noted, 'I was really nervous since yesterday, and I'm still nervous. It's great to see everyone having fun with us.'
Jennie expressed her gratitude, saying, 'Thank you to all the people who came to Goyang to start our first stadium tour like this. It's great to see people all the way up there. It's bittersweet as today is the last day before we go on the world tour, but I hope the day we meet again comes soon.'
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is also taking the lead in realizing sustainable performances through this tour with YG Entertainment. They added meaning to the concert with initiatives like eco-friendly paper pack bottled water 'BLACKPINK WATER,' a carbon emission measurement booth 'YOUR GREEN STEP,' and a recycling awareness campaign.
BLACKPINK will continue with a total of 31 stadium-level performances in 16 cities, including Los Angeles, Paris, London, Bangkok, and Tokyo, starting with the Goyang concert. They are expected to reaffirm their status as 'queens' on stages around the world.
