Defector broadcaster Shin Eun-ha shared an anecdote from her pre-marriage meeting.
On the program aired on MBN on the 5th, titled "Having a wonderful husband turns out to be useless," they discussed the theme.
Defector broadcaster Shin Eun-ha has a doctor husband, whom she met through a friend's introduction, and he is 11 years older.
Shin Eun-ha said, "The more time we spent together, the more genuine he was. As we got more serious, he mentioned wanting to introduce me to his family. He told my mother, 'I want to marry a woman from North Korea.' My mother surely had a vision of the kind of daughter-in-law she wanted. When he said he was going to marry a woman whose identity is unknown, my mother must have been crushed."
She continued, "He asked, 'Why on earth would you want to meet a lady from North Korea?' One day, out of the blue, he said he had a place to go, which was his in-laws'. My father-in-law has thought of me as his own daughter from the beginning to the end. I could feel he was welcoming me. My mother-in-law was flustered and didn't know what to do. She said, 'Why does our son like her? If it's because she's a doctor, my son isn't the kind that meets those expectations.'"
Shin Eun-ha remarked, "We dated for about four years before setting a meeting. My mother-in-law gently said, 'Actually, our son had a match.' That part must be uncomfortable for my mother. After the wedding, she doesn't openly ignore me. I am not someone easily taken for granted."
Shin Eun-ha explained, "Whenever I appear on a show, my mother-in-law tells me to hold back my words. She said, 'If you get contacted for something like Dongchimi, absolutely don't go out.' I have to just dive in and try it."
