The mother of Geumjok from 'My Precious Child' controlled her family secretly without the production crew knowing, but was caught.
In the broadcast on 4th, Channel A's 'My Precious Child' revealed the story of a first-grade son suffering from 'obsession with perfect scores,' amidst which Geumjok's mother displayed a dual personality.
On that day, Geumjok's father only quietly watched the mother disciplining Geumjok. However, his face was full of things he wanted to say, and the production crew separately called him to have a conversation.
When asked if he had something to say, the father hesitated, saying, "I don't know if I can talk about this." The reason soon became clear. It was because Geumjok's mother had called him aside to keep quiet after the production crew left, leaving only the mounted camera.
The MCs were surprised, and Geumjok's mother was seen whispering to her husband or calling him aside for days, continuously reminding him to "be careful with words and actions."
Moreover, Geumjok's mother expressed her anger, saying, "Why are you doing this, oppa? Are you doing it because you want to expose me? It's because of you that I'm getting angry, and that anger goes to the kids. I'm angry because of you, and it affects the kids."
There was another subject of control: Geumjok's maternal grandmother. Geumjok's mother admonished, "Don't talk about this in front of Geumjok." Seeing this, Dr. Oh Eun-young said, "On one hand, I understand, but the purpose of being here is to find a good direction for raising Geumjok. Being honest and allowing the family to see the real situation would be beneficial for them."
To understand the exact situation, Geumjok's father unexpectedly appeared in the studio. Dr. Oh Eun-young asked, "You didn't completely finish your thoughts; you seemed hesitant. Why was that?" The father replied, "At the time, you asked if things were different from usual, and I said they were different. The tone was lower than normal."
He continued, "When I'm angry, the tone goes up. The decibels increase. I get angry easily over small matters, and I wonder if this is something to be angry about."
Dr. Oh Eun-young noted, "While this can't be generalized, what concerns me in this footage is the obsession with control. There is a possibility of that. The atmosphere suggests that instead of casually asking, 'What did you ask?' the mother would go quietly into a room, controlling excessively as if saying to Geumjok, 'Look at my eyes.'"
As Geumjok's mother acknowledged this, Dr. Oh Eun-young stated, "The mother shows an obsession as a way to lower and ease this anxiety. There is a standard and framework. To achieve good results, she excessively controls her family within that framework."
The mother's problematic behavior was further identified, surpassing control to the point of fabricating situations. Regarding this behavior, Dr. Oh Eun-young explained, "This can be seen as diligence, but if she stays still, the anxiety rises sharply. To reduce this anxiety, she creates imaginary issues. How exhausting must that be for her? The anxiety causes a lot of consumption, making her emotionally strained."
She then expressed her concern: "The problem is that if one cannot adjust, the children suffer. Both their minds and bodies are in pain. Therefore, when parents excessively control, children tend to show two reactions: one is rebellion, or the other is obediently living like dolls."
