Super Junior's Shindong shared his struggles with dieting on 'Problem Child in House.'
On the 3rd, KBS2TV's entertainment program 'Problem Child in House' featured Shindong and Kyuhyun, who are celebrating their 20th debut anniversary. Super Junior has conveyed a special bond through various entertainment and content. Among them, Shindong and Kyuhyun revealed that they are somewhat awkward with each other.
Kyuhyun said, 'I feel awkward with Shindong. I am not actually awkward, but it seems like he is.' Shindong explained, 'It feels awkward when it's just the two of us. I am quite introverted. When the camera is off, I have nothing to say and that's how it is.'
Shindong said, 'Kyuhyun is really good at joking around. He always plays pranks on the members and gets hit. But I don't tease him. So it feels awkward.' He added, 'I can feel that he is being careful around me.' Kyuhyun remarked, 'Among us, Ryeowook is the sniper for Shindong.'
Shindong mentioned, 'The doctor said, 'You've lived with these eyes until now, but how about living with handsome eyes for the next 80 years?'' That's why I had double eyelid surgery. But Ryeowook said, 'You're not handsome anyway,' which surprised everyone.
Shindong has a notably distinctive figure that surpasses that of a male idol. He revealed that he achieved a spending amount of 14,490,000 won on delivery food, which shocked Jo Woo-jae.
Shindong stated, 'I didn't know either. There are three delivery applications, but the price spent on one application is 14,490,000 won.' This surprised everyone once again. Yang Se-chan asked cautiously, 'How do you get that price when you're just ordering one dish as someone who lives alone?' Shindong replied, 'What do you mean by ordering just one dish? If someone orders stir-fried pork, they should order soup or stew, right? Service soup doesn't count,' proudly showcasing his impressive appetite.
Jo Woo-jae remarked, 'The way I think is different; if I want to eat Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong, I eat Jjamjameon.' Kyuhyun chimed in, 'Shindong orders sweet and sour pork along with it,' revealing Shindong's habits. Shindong shared, 'So my own health food philosophy is to leave some food behind; that's it.'
Shindong experienced failures in dieting and the yo-yo effect. He lost a total of 37 kg, weighing 116 kg down to 79 kg. Shindong said, 'It took me 6 months to lose that weight. Of course, diet is important. I eat a bit of brown rice balls. I eat about 6 brown rice balls with a little bit of stir-fried anchovy or something like that,' revealing his diet at the time.
Afterward, he thought it might be okay to gain a bit more weight, but he achieved the yo-yo effect of returning to his original weight in just 3 months. However, Shindong did not give up because he also tried a diet injection known as Wegovy.
Shindong explained, 'I received injections in stages. I tried up to 7 stages, but there was no effect.' He added, 'The doctor said, 'It might be hard to eat because you're not digesting well, right?' But I digested extremely well.' He recounted, 'Hearing this, the doctor said, 'Mr. Shindong, you have conquered Wegovy.'
