Tablo and Tukutz of Epik High recalled the time they had conflicts at the beginning of their debut.
In the episode of MBC's entertainment program 'Radio Star' (hereafter 'RS') aired on the 2nd, Tablo, Tukutz, Lim Woo-il, and Kim Won-hoon appeared for a 'YouTube star' special, and Tablo and Tukutz showcased their bickering chemistry.
Mentioning that they have maintained their bromance by teasing each other for 23 years, Tablo said, "We are not just playfully bantering; we actually bicker. I'm very different from him. My personality is completely F, and he's completely T. We're both E, so it's noisy, but we clash differently. We package it nicely with Mithra Jin's mediating role, but we're really in it. The two of us bicker quite a bit."
Tukutz also said, "Instead of criticizing others, we criticize each other," as he teased Tablo, saying, "I don't like how you look." To this, Tablo shared, "Before going on stage for no reason, we look at each other and he says I look like a flower. He really does it often."
Tablo continued, "When we go on overseas tours, he goes sightseeing with me. He suggested we go see a painting, and we went to England, but if he's not impressed, he could just stay quiet, yet he says about each painting, 'What's this? I could do that.' The paintings are by Leonardo da Vinci."
He added, "It was my birthday party. He even arrived late, but as soon as he sat across from me, he said, 'Ah, I'm tired.' Then he took a bite of meat and said, 'Not great.'" Amidst everyone's sighs, Jang Doyoun remarked, "Is it that he's not T but just rude?" and a taken-aback Tukutz responded, "Are you trying to send me away?"
In response, Kim Gura asked, "Do you do that at home with your wife?" to which Tukutz replied, "I absolutely do not." Nevertheless, Kim Gura insisted, "But aren't these kinds of things true?" and Tukutz jested, "There's a lot of MSG in it, but didn't I gift you an unforgettable birthday in life? You remember, right?"
In particular, Tablo raised curiosity by saying that Tukutz tends to suddenly go off track every 2 to 3 years at the beginning of their debut. Back then, Tablo recalled composing 'Day of Peace' to widely introduce the hip-hop genre and achieving popularity, sharing, "It's a precious song for us. I'm really happy that the response has been good after our activities, but Tukutz did not have a good response."
Feeling this, Tablo reportedly told Tukutz as soon as he got in the car, "If you have complaints, say them." Then, Tukutz, who was sitting in the back seat, suddenly kicked Tablo's leg and shouted, "I didn't want to do this fake hip-hop!"
Regarding Tablo's revelation, Tukutz said, "I was worried that we might lean too much toward mainstream appeal. Since that song received a good response, I worried if we should only do mainstream hip-hop from now on." He added, "It was too young and I should have found a middle ground," to which Tablo laughed and said, "From his perspective, he's a hip-hop defender."
Tukutz even made a declaration to disconnect from Epik High by calling the CEO of their agency. Tablo shared, "He called the CEO out of the blue saying he couldn't do it. The CEO rushed over and said, 'Jung-sik says he can't do it. There's no need for a breakup; it seems like Jung-sik will just leave.'" This brought laughter.
Tablo recounted that three years later, in 2007, they declared a breakup again while singing at karaoke. "The CEO's reaction was the same then. The funnier thing was that Mithra Jin, who had been watching, said, 'That's more comfortable,' when this incident happened for the second time."
On the other hand, Tukutz revealed, "Whenever Tablo opens his mouth, he wants to distance himself." He said, "He communicates well and has a good memory, which is fortunate for me as he's on my side. However, one tough thing is that he's doing a digital detox lately. When he wakes up, he says he's not going to do it. When the day starts, he calls saying, 'Since I didn't look at my phone for hours after waking up today, life became easier. You should try it too.'"
Tukutz complained that he had to listen to the same story 7 to 8 times, saying, "Hearing a coherent explanation from start to finish 8 times was driving me crazy. I have to listen to this 7 to 8 times, including the situation, time, and conclusion."
Kim Gura said, "I understand why you might have a seizure" while humorously adding, "But why are you just hanging around? If he starts talking, go out and wash your car!" This caused a big laugh.
