Actress Song Ha-yoon (39) filed a lawsuit against the original disseminator, identified as A, for 'false information' a year after the allegation of school violence, prompting A to respond.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, A left a lengthy post on an online community, rebutting Song Ha-yoon's claims.
A claimed to be a U.S. citizen and addressed Song Ha-yoon's assertion that A refused to cooperate with the investigation, stating, 'I am a Korean national legally residing in the U.S. as a citizen, and I have not officially renounced my Korean nationality for simple administrative convenience, which is unrelated to this case.'
A continued, 'Despite being a victim, I was advised to attend, but in order to do so, I would have to bear all expenses, including airfare, accommodation, and living expenses.' A stated, 'I have already submitted ample written statements and evidence, I am in contact with the Korean police, and I have faithfully complied with all necessary cooperation.'
He also commented on Song Ha-yoon's assertion that 'the police issued a warrant notification for A around May and registered A in the list of wanted persons in their database,' stating, 'This is not true.'
He claimed, 'The police have only provisionally suspended the investigation into this case, and have not taken any measures, such as enforcing a warrant or blocking entry and exit.' He added, 'I have not received any notification from the police regarding the issuance of a warrant.'
Additionally, A countered Song Ha-yoon's claim that there were no forced transfers due to school violence during high school, arguing that the two schools attended by Song Ha-yoon were within the same school district, making a simple transfer due to change of district impossible.
He claimed, 'If it wasn't for school violence measures, such a transfer between the schools could not happen,' arguing, 'This supports the circumstance that it was a forced transfer due to school violence, not a voluntary transfer.'
Finally, A stated, 'I have never disseminated or fabricated false information,' adding, 'Song Ha-yoon's attempt to conceal her past issues and instead counterattack me could indicate false accusation,' and hinted at future legal action.
The controversy surrounding Song Ha-yoon's alleged school violence came to light through JTBC's 'Incident Manager' in April of last year. At the time, A claimed to have been assaulted by three classmates, including Song Ha-yoon, during high school, and that they were forced to transfer as a result. Song Ha-yoon's side had denied the allegations, stating, 'This is entirely baseless, and we have never even met.'
About a year later, on the previous day, Song Ha-yoon revealed through her legal representative that she had filed a criminal complaint against A for alleged defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and for obstruction of business by deceit, stating that all of A's claims were false.
