The 27th season of 'I am SOLO' announced the start of an unprecedented 'visual generation'.
In the reality dating program 'I am SOLO' broadcast on Mar. 2 by ENA and SBS Plus, the 'Solonara No. 27' featuring 'F6' solo men and '6 Ok-soon' solo women was unveiled.
This 'Solonara No. 27' was set in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, which is blessed with the beautiful spirit of Naejangsan. The first to appear was Young-soo, who boasted a tall stature and revealed that he is a businessman and a former actor who has worked with the rising actor Yoon Kyung-ho. He said, 'After setting up a production studio during the COVID-19 period and losing 200 million won, I am currently equipped with a certification and have established a small office,' raising curiosity about his occupation. Next to enter was Young-ho, who graduated from Y University, and he introduced himself by saying, 'Since I am not an office worker, I have absolutely no opportunity to meet women,' adding, 'This profession thrives as much as you move.' Appearing with a rustic accent, Young-sik said, 'Due to my job that takes me around the country, I am looking for a spouse who is either unemployed or financially stable. I want a strong woman.'
Young-cheol, who hails from Pohang and currently resides in Busan, shared his love concerns, saying, '(Offline, I tend to take the lead and appeal to the opposite sex, but online, I stumble).' A clear 'church oppa', Kwang-soo, revealed that he is a general practitioner working at a skin care hospital. The last to introduce was Sang-cheol, whose 'cute' visual overwhelmed with a muscular physique that belied his looks. Despite his 'manly' appearance, introverted Sang-cheol stated, 'I want an active woman.'
When the solo men gathered, the 27th season solo women appeared with a charm brighter than flowers. Young-sook, who expressed confidence by saying, 'Am I not Ok-soon?', introduced herself, saying, 'I immigrated to Australia and currently work at a foreign company in Korea.' Jeong-sook, who resembles Jung Yu-mi, stated, 'My boss always calls me, 'Ok-soon~,' emphasizing that she is 'Pohang Ok-soon', and she confessed, 'I recently got hurt by a younger man and my self-esteem has decreased.' Next, Sun-ja expressed her earnestness, saying, 'I hope this video is used as my pre-dinner video. I want to meet a man to marry.' Following her, Sun-ja, who claimed to have 'an inner beauty as well as outer beauty,' boldly stated, 'I have a strong competitive spirit and will take at least one.' Subsequently, Young-ja revealed her dating views, saying, 'After studying abroad in the U.S. and Japan for a long time, I started dating in my 30s,' and added, 'There has to be at least one appealing point, whether it's being really smart or really nice.'
Among the numerous 'Ok-soon applicants', the real Ok-soon demonstrated her sincerity by submitting an astounding seven applications to 'I am SOLO', revealing, 'There were many people I liked, but I've never confessed to anyone.' Finally, Hyun-sook expressed, 'Since last year, my thoughts on marriage have grown, and I have gone on over 100 blind dates. At home, there's pressure for me to marry once a day.'
As the meeting of the 'Flower Boy F6' and '6 Ok-soon' was established, the solo women's first impression selection took place. In the first impression selection, Sang-cheol received 'four votes' from Young-sook, Jeong-sook, Ok-soon, and Hyun-sook, becoming the popular man, while Sun-ja and Young-ja both selected Young-sik. Sang-cheol expressed during an interview with the production team, 'It's a grateful thing, but it's a burden I've never felt in my life.' On the other hand, Young-soo, Young-ho, Young-cheol, and Kwang-soo, who received 'zero votes', swallowed their disappointment with hopes for the future. Upon arriving at the lodging, Hyun-sook gifted the solo men with macarons she had prepared in advance. However, the solo men became a 'silent tasting group' and ate without any reaction. Kwang-soo, who had also prepared six shopping bags as gifts, hesitated for a moment before subtly informing Young-sook about it. Immediately after, the solo women checked gifts like vitamins, sunscreen, and mask packs, accurately predicting Kwang-soo's profession by asking, 'Do you work at a dermatology clinic?'
During dinner, the silence of the solo men continued. Young-soo took on the role of the 'lonely man' while grilling meat, and when Young-sook and Young-ja approached him, asking, 'Is there anything we can help with?' Young-soo coldly replied, 'You can go and eat.' Shortly after, Jeong-sook expressed her disappointment during an interview with the production team, asking, 'Why did Young-soo come here?', and Ok-soon confessed that it felt like Young-soo had no interest in her. Unaware of this, Young-soo conveyed in an interview, 'If you don't receive votes during the first impression selection, you have to grill the meat. That's how you can get sympathy votes,' showcasing that he had some strategic actions.
'Popular man' Sang-cheol also turned his head abruptly when the solo women approached a little. Lee Yi-kyung lamented, 'It's the most static moment ever.' The solo women all expressed their frustration, saying, 'No one approached me first.' In reality, at the same time, the solo men shocked everyone by performing the first-ever 'group lying down' of 'I am SOLO' in the common living room. Following that, Young-sook sighed, wondering if men were always like this or if it was just edited for good, while Jeong-sook fell into a 'zero battle readiness' state, saying, 'No one is interested in me, and I want to go home.' The teaser released afterward showed the solo men appearing with frames, making first impression selections, heightening anticipation for next week's broadcast.
