I Dong-guk revealed his timid side on 'What to Leave'.
On the broadcast of tvN STORY's 'What to Leave' on 2nd, Yang Se-hyung, Jeong Ji-sun, and I Dong-guk were seen heading to the Doido (Wolmido, Oido, Yeongjongdo) in the West Sea for Park Se-ri's spicy taste tour.
That day, I Dong-guk, who appeared as a taste friend in Oido, greeted Lee Young-ja, Park Se-ri, and Yang Se-hyung warmly, saying, "My house is right over there," pointing towards Songdo.
Lee Young-ja asked Park Se-ri what kind of connection she had with I Dong-guk, and Park Se-ri said, "I first met Dong-guk at a charity golf tournament. I saw him there when we invited sports legends," but I Dong-guk expressed his disappointment, saying, "At that time, I was appearing on JeA's 'Noona' variety show, and I played tennis in Songdo with him." The flustered Park Se-ri replied, "I must not have realized it since I was looking after a baby then."
I Dong-guk has a connection with Park Se-ri, starting from their appearance in a variety show with his daughter, and he was invited to her charity golf tournament as well as her recent opening event. He recalled rushing over at Park Se-ri's invitation.
In an interview, Park Se-ri revealed, "Since I Dong-guk is also a former athlete, he travels abroad frequently and trains a lot, so I thought we might have similar tastes, and since we have various connections, it felt natural to invite him to join us."
On the other hand, he has maintained a connection with Yang Se-hyung since they met on a broadcast program. I Dong-guk said, "I see Se-hyung often. We keep in touch regularly," while Yang Se-hyung boasted, "We met on a program, but we've continued to meet afterward, drinking and exercising together."
They visited a boiling seafood restaurant recommended by Park Se-ri. Everyone expressed their excitement, but I Dong-guk confessed, "I have a personal preference, but I didn't eat much seafood during my athletic career. I really dislike getting my hands dirty, and I can't eat much, so I seldom went to seafood places." Upon hearing this, Lee Young-ja reacted, "Are you a baby?"
Meanwhile, Park Se-ri mentioned, "Originally, we would finish like this and have the guests pay as well," to which Lee Young-ja added, "We came close to Incheon. We are the guests," prompting a flustered I Dong-guk to explain, "Everyone, this is Gyeonggi Province. It may look close, but Oido belongs to Gyeonggi Province."
Lee Young-ja provocatively asked, "So you can't buy it?" to which I Dong-guk retorted, "If I want to buy, I can," bringing laughter. When Park Se-ri commented, "Athletes are usually cool," I Dong-guk emphasized, "When I'm with my seniors, I always paid. I often paid when I was with Se-hyung too."
On the other hand, Lee Young-ja remarked, "Many athletes gather hoping to be adopted by Park Se-ri. Lee Dae-ho, Kim Tae-kyun, Park Tae-hwan, many want to be adopted," then asked, "What would you do if 'sister' Park Se-ri adopts?"
When I Dong-guk responded, "I should go in," Park Se-ri lamented, "There are too many family members here. There are five kids alone. If I include my wife and Dong-guk, that makes seven." In response, I Dong-guk joked, "I feel like my back might break; it's time to rest now."
Later, the boiling seafood revealed its bright red appearance. While everyone was enjoying their meal, I Dong-guk made a hesitant expression. He stated in an interview, "I can't eat spicy food well, so if it's moderately spicy and tasty, I think I can look forward to it, but if it's just really spicy, I might struggle to challenge myself."
Against his worries, after tasting the lobster that Park Se-ri prepared, he marveled, "I can't eat spicy food well; this isn't that spicy but has a delicious spiciness," and then showcased a storm of eating.
Watching this, Lee Young-ja asked, "When is the moment the appeal of spiciness is strongest?" I Dong-guk replied, "I've never actively sought out spicy food myself. I'm still sweating now. I do eat if I find it tasty, but after eating spicy food the next day is really hard. Since I exercise and run, I can't afford to have a stomachache." In contrast, Park Se-ri said, "I just ate what I wanted. I didn't particularly manage myself."
