The SBS youth drama 'Spring of Youth,' which hovered below a 1% rating, has reached its final airing day. Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, Lee Seung-hyup, Seo Hye-won, and Kim Sun-min unveiled their 'final thoughts' filled with affection for the work and sadness regarding its conclusion.
'Spring of Youth' (written by Kim Min-cheol, directed by Kim Sung-yong, produced by Studio S, FNC Entertainment, FNC Story, and Monster Union) is a young musical romance about the star 'Sage' of the top K-pop group who gets expelled from the team and encounters 'Kim Bom' during a tumultuous college life, leading to a splendid comeback.
In the last episode, the 'Tusaek' group, which was suddenly recruited instead of the 'Han Ju University Band,' made a surprise appearance as guests on a program featuring Seo Tae-yang (Lee Seung-hyup). However, Seo Tae-yang was the first to notice that Sage (Ha Yoo-jun) was in danger while trying to continue the performance, and he jumped towards Sage, causing both of them to lose consciousness and heightening the sense of crisis.
In relation to this, the five main actors of 'Spring of Youth'—Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, Lee Seung-hyup, Seo Hye-won, and Kim Sun-min—shared their feelings ahead of the final episode, memorable episodes from filming, and their chosen points for watching the finale, offering their final greetings to the viewers.
First, Ha Yoo-jun, who brought bright energy to viewers as the overly positive Sage and completed a brilliant debut as an actor, expressed, "It's hard to believe that it's already over and I'm a bit sad. There were many joyful and happy moments during filming, and I believe that the feelings I experienced were conveyed well to the viewers."
Ha Yoo-jun continued, "I vividly remember that it was really cold, and we all filmed while shivering together. Although we gathered for acting, it felt great to come together through music." He noted that the 4th episode's 'Tusaek Busking' scene is the most memorable. He also left a surprise watch point, saying, "In the final episode, you'll see Sage in a complex mix of sadness and happiness. I hope you felt the little happiness in everyday life. Loop Ritelcam!" showing his cheerful demeanor until the end.
Park Ji-hoo, who emerged as a powerhouse of youth romance as Kim Bom, a musical genius and part-time worker, remarked, "I feel a void thinking that I can no longer feel the joy of waiting for 'Spring of Youth' every week with an excited heart in front of the TV. However, I believe it was a wonderful time, feeling a more brilliant spring than ever this year."
Park Ji-hoo, who recalled the 'eye contact' scene that was the last of episode 8 and the first of episode 9 as the most memorable, said, "During that filming, I focused entirely on Kim Bom's heart, acting while only looking into Sage's eyes, and I remember feeling as if time had stopped." He added, "The truth finally revealed, focusing on the hearts of Sage, Bom, and Tae-yang, and their relationships, would help you enjoy the finale even more. It was a grateful time to communicate with the viewers after a long time and feel joy every week. Though Kim Bom will leave, spring comes every year, so please continue to wait for spring and enjoy the spring days without limits."
Lee Seung-hyup, who demonstrated a variety of emotional performances as Seo Tae-yang, a drum genius and medical student, shared ahead of the finale, "I believe this work made me grow as a good actor. Thanks to the director Kim Sung-yong, the writer, and many staff members who guided me well at every moment and every scene, I was able to feel and express a lot. Working with senior Kim Jong-tae, who played my father, was a very valuable experience for me." He recalled that he always called senior Kim Jong-tae 'father' on set but had a funny mishap on days when he filmed with senior Jo Han-cheol, who played the father in his previous work 'Mom's Friend's Son,' calling both of them 'father.'
Furthermore, Lee Seung-hyup expressed, "Although there are hard and painful days, I hope you will watch how the brilliant youth bloom beautifully in the end." He added, "I'm curious if viewers reflected on their passionate moments and the times they chased their dreams, and received energy from them. 'Spring of Youth' Tae-yang is actually running toward his dreams just like me, Lee Seung-hyup. I want to be a person who acts for a long time and is loved. Please keep watching until the end."
Seo Hye-won, who revitalized the drama as Baek Gyuri, a mood shifter who traverses between hot and cold, said, "From the time we filmed 'Spring of Youth' until now, I have kept a group photo of 'Tusaek' in my phone case. It's a work I have a lot of love for. I miss 'Tusaek' and those staff members who captured us beautifully, as well as the always kind director."
Seo Hye-won remarked, "The rehearsal scene of 'Tusaek' was so cool that it made me want to play an instrument and start a band as Seo Hye-won. Among the romantic scenes with Jin-goo, I put a lot of effort into the mackerel scene, and I remember the feeling of breathing with Jin-goo while acting it out." Lastly, Seo Hye-won concluded, "Thank you for taking care of Gyuri and making her cute. I hope 'Spring of Youth' brought joy to your daily life!"
Kim Sun-min, who was in charge of the cheerfulness as Gong Jin-goo, a drum genius at the filming of 'Spring of Youth,' said ahead of the finale, "This filming set was really the first time for me in many ways. I was nervous every time, excited, and thrilled, but even when I made mistakes, the director, co-actors, and staff kindly guided me, and I was able to finish filming safely."
Kim Sun-min, who chose the 'mackerel scene' as a memorable moment along with Seo Hye-won, said, "This scene was one where I wanted to show the fluttering sweetness to the viewers when Jin-goo looked at Gyuri, so on our day off, we rented a practice room to practice it, and I put a lot of thought into it. I'm really happy the mackerel scene turned out funny, so it's memorable." He added, "Thank you for loving Jin-goo until the end and for being with 'Spring of Youth.' I will work hard to act with good works in the future, so please look forward to it."
The production team said, "The filming set was always filled with happiness due to the fantastic chemistry of Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, Lee Seung-hyup, Seo Hye-won, and Kim Sun-min, who felt like a team. Please check if another group rehearsal that was the essence of youth will happen again in the final episode airing tonight at 10:40 p.m. on July 2."
