Singer and songwriter Joo Young-hoon reportedly underwent an appendectomy during a family trip to Jeju Island.
On the 1st, Joo Young-hoon's wife Lee Yoon-mi posted on her Instagram that "Joo Young-hoon was taken to the emergency room by ambulance, complaining of abdominal pain and high fever."
A photo released with the post showed Joo Young-hoon lying in the ambulance in pain, with the back of an emergency responder visible next to him.
In response, Lee Yoon-mi shared, "The abdominal pain was so severe that he couldn't walk, so we went to the hospital by ambulance. After receiving an IV, he felt better and was discharged. At that time, I thought it was just a stomach spasm."
Lee Yoon-mi added, "At 1 a.m., chills and a high fever returned, so we went back to the emergency room." She continued, "While I was awake during the CT scan and tests, I was recording everything. Thank you everyone for your concern."
Lee Yoon-mi expressed her anxiety, saying, "They told me to sit and wait because he was fine, but I can't relax. He had a fever early in the morning and took two doses of children's fever reducer. From now on, we need to pack adult medications as well. Anyway, let's wait for the results."
Later, Joo Young-hoon was seen entering the operating room. Lee Yoon-mi said, "He is undergoing emergency surgery. I will update you once the surgery is completed." She added, "This trip was already going to leave memorable moments, but it will definitely be an unforgettable trip to Jeju."
Joo Young-hoon debuted as a composer in 1993 with Shin Seung-hun's "The Woman I Loved First" and has worked with numerous artists such as Turbo, Um Jung-hwa, and Koyote, producing many hit songs. He married actress Lee Yoon-mi in 2006 and has three daughters.
