The film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight," which surpassed "Love Letter" in domestic markets and rewrote the box office history of Japanese romance films, is being reborn as a Korean movie.
Adapted from the novel of the same name by author Ichijo Misaki, "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" (directed by Kim Hye-Young, distributed by Byfoem Studio, produced by Blue Fires Studio, co-produced by Opan House and KADOKAWA and Red Ice Entertainment) depicts a youthful and affectionate love story between a female student suffering from anterograde amnesia, where her memory resets every time she wakes up, and an ordinary male student living a mundane life.
The film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight," which will be newly created with Korean sensibilities, conducted a script reading and ritual ahead of its official crank-in on Saturday, July 5.
The film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" raises expectations with the casting of "actual trend actor" Choo Young-Woo and Shin Si A. Choo Young-Woo, who has already captivated audiences with stable acting in dramas like "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" and "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," is making his first challenge on the screen with this work.
He plays the role of "Kim Jae-Won," a character who lives day by day without a life goal, and gradually changes as he meets "Han Seo-Yun," who is the complete opposite of him. Choo Young-Woo is expected to showcase the essence of youth melodrama by portraying a wide range of emotions, from his cold and cynical charm to the warm heart hidden within, and his genuine experience of falling in love with Seo-Yun. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, "I had a lot of expectations since I enjoyed both the original novel and the movie, and I was eager to be a part of it when the proposal came in. I definitely want to do well on this."
Shin Si A, showcasing impressive acting skills that are not typical of a newcomer across films and dramas like "The Old Woman with the Knife" and "Resident Playbook," is signaling her return to the screen after "The Old Woman with the Knife." Han Seo-Yun, played by Shin Si A, suffers from anterograde amnesia but strives to live positively and joyfully with her playful spirit.
Shin Si A is expected to leave a lasting impression as a new first-love icon, radiating diverse charms through her refreshing visuals and immersive emotional performances, akin to her character. Before filming, she shared, "As a fan of the original novel, I am so happy and excited to take on a character from a work I love. I will do my best to ensure that the warm sentiment reaches the audience during the filming."
Meanwhile, "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" is being invested and distributed by Byfoem Studio, which led the box office with films like "Firefighter," "Win," "Hitman 2," and "Noise," while production is handled by Blue Fires Studio, a video production subsidiary of Red Ice Studio, which made webtoons like "Solo Leveling" and "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint." Additionally, Kim Hye-Young, who received critical acclaim and audience praise for her feature debut "It's Okay, It's Okay, It's Okay!" is taking the director's chair.
The film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" is scheduled for crank-in on Saturday, July 5, and aims for a theatrical release in 2025 after shooting and post-production.
