Lee Jang-woo of 'Do You Know Home-cooked Meals' and BamBam expressed his desire to convey "the warmth of Korean home-cooked meals" to the world.
'Do You Know Home-cooked Meals,' which will first air on the 9th at 10:20 p.m. on MBN and MBC Every1, is a travel entertainment program where a star, who is a representative gourmet from the entertainment industry and boasts chef-level cooking skills, creates food to share joy while introducing the true essence of Korean home-cooking to the world. Lee Jang-woo will travel around the world to showcase the charm of Korean "home-cooked meals," providing comfort and affection to those eating while exploring hidden local restaurants and experiencing unique food cultures from various countries. GOT7's BamBam is expected to provide solid support for Lee Jang-woo as he is knowledgeable about food, and will particularly take on the role of interpreter in Thailand, the first country, while also actively engaging in local scouting, expected to generate "unprecedented synergy."
In this regard, Lee Jang-woo noted, "As we are filming under the name of 'home-cooked meals' overseas, I felt a responsibility to convey Korean food culture and emotions well," revealing that he is taking this very seriously. He humorously added, "I think the pressure will make me gain a little more weight."
Having completed the first filming in his hometown, Thailand, BamBam stated, "I felt so at ease," and added, "It was even more meaningful to introduce Korean home-cooked meals in a place where I am familiar with both the language and culture." He mentioned that he took on roles ranging from local restaurant and hot spot scouting to interpreting and coordinating with locals, adding, "Being able to work together with Lee Jang-woo again for a variety show has made filming even more enjoyable," hinting at their trusted chemistry. Lee Jang-woo also praised BamBam, saying, "Although he is Thai, he acts like a true Korean person," complimenting his manner of speaking, attitude, and politeness. BamBam responded, "Lee Jang-woo is really reliable and a presence I can always lean on. Thanks to him, I was able to film with a relaxed mind."
The two are also expected to excel as cooking partners. Lee Jang-woo explained, "Thailand is a country that uses fish sauce in nearly every dish like Korea, so I thought the Thai people would like it." He added, "I prepared Korean dishes centered around using fish sauce." BamBam praised, "Lee Jang-woo's cooking skills are a perfect 10 out of 10," and stated, "I did not practice specifically, but I believed in my cooking sense based on my trust in him," sparking anticipation for their perfect chemistry.
Lee Jang-woo emphasized his unique mindset as a 'home-cooked meal ambassador.' He stated, "Korean home-cooked meals are 'about the heart.' The culture itself of preparing side dishes, soup, rice, and main dishes is impossible without genuine sincerity in wanting to care for someone," revealing his sincerity with, "After filming, I called my mother to thank her." BamBam expressed his affection for Korean food, saying, "Even when I am overseas, I always think of Korean-style breakfast," sharing that beef stir-fry and pork soup are his "soul foods." He noted that his foreign friends have never disliked them.
In conclusion, the two expressed a desire to share the small touches and laughter that home-cooked meals provide through 'Do You Know Home-cooked Meals.' Lee Jang-woo remarked, "Creating Korean-style home-cooked meals with the ingredients of that country will surely be entertaining," while BamBam shared his aspiration to convey the warmth of Korean home-cooked meals to many people.
Meanwhile, Lee Jang-woo will marry actress Jo Hye-won on Nov. 23.
