However, director Hwang Dong-hyuk stated, "There is no room for 'Squid Game' to continue," adding, "(All those stories) are completely baseless. I believe rumors may have emerged, but nothing has officially come out."
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game 3' depicts Gi-hun, who lost his closest friend in a game he re-entered with personal motives, the Front Man who infiltrated the game while hiding his identity, and the final fate of participants who survived in the brutal game.

What will happen to the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun), who disguised himself as participant No. 001 Yeong-il and participated in the game with Gi-hun while removing his mask? Will Gi-hun come to know the true identity of the Front Man? The reunion between the Front Man, who has returned as the overseer of the game, and Gi-hun is also a point of interest. Additionally, viewers are curious about changes to various characters, including coin YouTuber Myung-ki (played by Yim Siwan), Marine Corps veteran Dae-ho (played by Kang Ha-neul), the Front Man's brother and police officer Junho (played by Wi Ha-jun), defected pink guard No-eul (played by Park Gyu-young), Myung-ki's ex-girlfriend and a pregnant participant Jun-hee (played by Jo Yuri), transgender Hyun-joo (played by Park Sung-hoon), the only masked participant Geum-ja (played by Kang Ae-shim) and Yongsik (played by Yang Dong-geun), and Gyeong-seok (played by Lee Jin-wook), who participated to afford surgery for his young daughter, and a priest losing his touch (played by Chae Gook-hee), and Min-soo (played by Lee Da-wit), who is being bullied by Nam-kyu.
