"'My girlfriend is a tough guy' has set sail!"
KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'My girlfriend is a tough guy' featuring Yoon San-ha, Arin, Yoo Jung-hoo, and Chu has revealed a traditional ritual for safety and global success called 'Dukkeun Dukkeun'.
Set to premiere on July 23 (Wed), KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'My girlfriend is a tough guy' (written by Lee Hae-na, directed by Yoo Kwan-mo, produced by Studio N, Blossom Entertainment, Playground) is based on the popular Naver webtoon 'My girlfriend is a tough guy' (by Mastar). It's a hilarious romance between a girlfriend, Kim Ji-eun (Arin), who suddenly becomes a flower boy overnight, and her boyfriend, Park Yoon-jae (Yoon San-ha), who can't give her up.
'My girlfriend is a tough guy', directed by Yoo Kwan-mo, who showcased delicate directing skills in 'Police Class', 'Woman of 99 Billion', and 'Perfume', along with writer Lee Hae-na, known for her outstanding writing, has gathered the rising youth actors Yoon San-ha, Arin, Yoo Jung-hoo, and Chu to create a refreshing drama that promises to cool down the sweltering summer of 2025.
In relation to this, the cast and staff gathered on set for the 'My girlfriend is a tough guy' ritual, where director Yoo Kwan-mo began the ceremony by offering incense and reading the prayer. The four main characters, Yoon San-ha, Arin, Yoo Jung-hoo, and Chu, expressed their feelings and determination before their first shoot on set, receiving warm applause.
First, Yoon San-ha, who plays Park Yoon-jae, described as a K-University student who is a dedicated boyfriend, exclaimed, "It's an honor to be part of 'My girlfriend is a tough guy,' and I am happy to be filming with such wonderful staff and the director. I hope to create good memories without anyone getting hurt until filming is over!" Arin, who plays the lovable girlfriend Kim Ji-eun and is taken aback by the sudden changes that hit her, expressed her joy by saying, "I was glad to see everyone's faces after a long time," and added, "I hope we can continue filming with enthusiasm. Thank you!"
Yoo Jung-hoo, who plays Kim Ji-hoon, the biological counterpart of Kim Ji-eun (Arin), experiencing confusion as a girl on the inside but appearing as a boy on the outside, stated, "As I have received a good role, I will do my best to meet expectations," and cheerfully declared, "I'm confident!" Chu, who plays Kang Min-joo, a hot girl at K-University secretly in love with Park Yoon-jae, expressed, "Thank you for giving me the precious and charming role of Kang Min-joo. I will do my best to create joyful memories and an entertaining piece of work," while beaming with a bright smile that lifted the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the 'ceremony site' was warmed up by junior and senior supporting actors, creating a heartwarming atmosphere as befits a 'healing drama'. The representative of the senior actors, Do Ji-won, who plays Kim Ji-eun's mother Lee Chun-hee, remarked, "I am grateful to everyone, from the wonderful director to the esteemed writers and all the actors, for gathering to create a great drama. I hope we can all work hard to make a good drama until the end and conclude it joyfully." Also, Park Yoon-jae's mother, Kim Eun-sook, played by Jo Eun-sook, Park Yoon-jae's father, Park Il-jo, played by Kim Kwang-sik, and Kim Ji-eun's father, Kim Sun-ho, played by Lee Yoon-geon, also joined in wishing for safety.
Additionally, among the 'vibrant personalities' that will infuse energy into the drama, Hyun-jun playing Lee Min-hyuk, Park Yoon-jae's part-time mate, Choi Yoon-ra as Kim Ji-eun's sister Kim Ji-hye, Park Joo-won as Kim Ji-eun's best friend Choi Yoo-ri, Kim Jong-hoon as Hong Young-seok, a student repeating the exam in Noryangjin, and Lee So-won as Park Yoon-a, Park Yoon-jae's younger sister, each energized the site with their unique remarks.
Finally, Director Yoo Kwan-mo conveyed his heartfelt wish, saying, "I hope this work brings more positive influence and attention outside of the main cast, Yoon San-ha, Arin, Yoo Jung-hoo, and Chu, and becomes a program that brings lots of luck to the viewers," receiving applause.
