A male grants participant from 'I'm Solo' has been referred to the prosecution on charges of sexual assault.
According to the Mapo Police Station in Seoul on the 1st, the police transferred a man in his 30s, surnamed Park, to detention on charges of quasi-rape last week.
The charge of quasi-rape applies to individuals who engage in intercourse or indecent acts using a state of 'diminished mental capacity' or 'inability to resist'. Park is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s in a parking lot in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, around 3:30 a.m. on the 21st of last month.
The police urgently arrested Park and applied for a detention warrant, which the court issued on the 23rd of last month.
In particular, Park has been reported to have continued his broadcast activities by appearing in ENA and SBS Plus entertainment programs 'I'm Solo' and 'I'm Solo, Then Love Continues' (hereinafter 'Nasol Saga'), shocking many.
In response, the production team posted a statement on their official accounts, stating, "We learned about the court's issuance of the detention warrant related to the criminal charges against grants participant Park through news reports on the morning of the 24th," and added, "Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, we will take measures to ensure minimal inconvenience to viewers and will edit and delete participants from previously aired episodes to the best of our ability."
They further noted, "Despite our requests for the participants' caution and vigilance before and after the broadcast, the production team feels responsible and deeply apologizes for these occurrences. We will strictly manage the adherence and fulfillment of contractual obligations by participants even after filming," adding, "We will approach the program's production carefully to repay viewers' affectionate interest."
Meanwhile, after the report aired, the 'I'm Solo' 25th season participant Yeongcheol suddenly switched his social account to private. Subsequently, in the broadcast of 'Nasol Saga' aired on the 26th of last month, Yeongcheol's scenes were completely edited out, confirming him as the participant facing sexual assault charges.
