'Mask Girl' revealed she has endured a difficult time due to derogatory remarks about her appearance.
During the MBN 30th anniversary national consolation project 'Oh Eun-young Stay' broadcast on the 30th, shocking stories from participants were revealed.
'Mask Girl's story was unveiled. 'Mask Girl' identified 'offensive remarks' as a keyword. She said, "I heard a lot of offensive remarks from people. Derogatory comments about my appearance. Since three years ago, the words I have heard from people are, 'You're getting tired,' and 'You're so disgusting.'" Moon Se-yoon expressed anger, saying, "Who talks to someone like that?"
'Mask Girl' explained, "I put on a mask when I go out. I directly heard derogatory comments like, 'It's not about being female, I won't even meet you as a clearance item.' At first, it was shocking. It was hard to go about my daily life. Just as I was beginning to live normally again, I kept hearing those words over and over again. At first, I thought it was a coincidence. Then I started to wonder, 'Is there something wrong with me?' I actually went to counseling and got tested at the hospital, but the situation got worse."
'Mask Girl' confessed that she ultimately ended up hiding behind a mask. She announced she has been living in hiding for six months after leaving her job in November last year.
'Mask Girl' said, "Bullying started in school during my teenage years. A kid I thought was my close friend slapped my cheek. I felt it was when I disobeyed what they said. When I told my parents, they said, 'Why are you doing this, it's just a joke between friends.' They called me 'sensitive' and 'weird.' My sister saw me being bullied. It was very scary, but my sister encouraged me," she confessed, shedding tears.
'Mask Girl' said, "My sister is the only one who sincerely told me, 'I'm glad you were born.' I do not want to be a burden to my sister. I want to be healthy." Other participants warmly consoled 'Mask Girl,' saying, "You did well."
Oh Eun-young advised, "There is a meaning in trying to protect the emotional pain of those who have been hurt and attacked for a very long time without reason. Those who have committed acts of violence are bad people. I cannot entrust my life to those who have caused me harm because I am a valuable person."
'Mask Girl' maintained wearing a mask even when alone, and in the dark of night, she seemed frustrated and hit her chest before gathering her belongings to go outside. 'Mask Girl' expressed, "Even though I received consolation, talking about my story itself was difficult."
