The group ONEUS has heightened expectations for their comeback with the unknown 'x'.
ONEUS posted a highlight medley of their mini album 11, '5x', on their official YouTube channel today, at 12 a.m.
The released video features ONEUS immersed in the concept photo shoot for '5x', with snippets of five songs being played sequentially, including the title track 'X', 'LOVE ME or LOSER', 'RELOAD', 'BAD', and 'TIME MACHINE (Korean Ver.)'.
Beginning with 'LOVE ME or LOSER', which adds a dreamy feel with pluck and pad synths, 'RELOAD' features a raw heavy BASS and low-tone sounds that are captivating, while 'BAD' showcases a melodic blend of retro synths and dreamy electric guitar, and the high-quality production continues with the Korean version of the digital single released in Japan in April this year, 'TIME MACHINE (Korean Ver.)'.
In particular, the title track 'X' prominently features a funky BASS riff, hinting at ONEUS's expanded musical universe. ONEUS flips musical conventions on their head and creates a unique formula. Not only the melody but also the choreography, which has been worked on by RENAN, who produced aespa's 'Whiplash', adds to the anticipation.
Mini album 11, '5x', encapsulates ONEUS's infinite musical possibilities through the combination of the number '5', representing the five members, and the unknown 'x', which can represent any value. All members participate in song creation, breaking down their boundaries and signaling a new narrative's start. Reflecting the nature of the unknown variable 'x', ONEUS showcases a broad spectrum of musical styles that are sometimes intense, sometimes delicate, and sometimes experimental.
ONEUS's mini album 11, '5x', will be released on the 30th at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
