"Chef Lu Ching Lai, a master of Chinese cuisine, confesses his inner pain regarding his son on 'Bakban Gihang.'
Today (29th), the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Gourmet Heo Young-man's Bakban Gihang' (abbreviated as 'Bakban Gihang') will air the second part of the gastronomic journey in the 'romantic city' of Hong Kong, continuing from last week with a 'Global Bakban Gihang Overseas Special.' The 'global master of Chinese cuisine' Lu Ching Lai and 'original chef entertainer' Hong Shin-ae will make the trip rich with their knowledge of Hong Kong, on par with that of a local guide.
Lu Ching Lai is a judge at international Chinese cooking competitions and is respected as a 'master of Chinese cuisine' by chefs. He is said to be extremely serious and solemn in the kitchen, but when it comes to his son, who is following in his footsteps as a Chinese chef, he becomes an ordinary father prone to nagging. Lu Ching Lai opens up about his feelings, saying, "I am worried because I cannot trust my son."
Meanwhile, the gourmet visits the Queen's Square, where Chow Yun-fat strolled in the film 'A Better Tomorrow,' which led the revival of Hong Kong noir action films, with Lu Ching Lai and Hong Shin-ae. Nearby is the hotel where the late actor Leslie Cheung used to frequent, making it a must-visit spot for Hong Kong movie fans. At Queen's Square, the gourmet appears holding candy instead of a cigarette, channeling Chow Yun-fat and bringing laughter as 'Heo Yun-fat.'
The three visit the 'world's longest' mid-level escalator. Built for the commuting convenience of mid-level residents, it has become a landmark in Hong Kong and an essential tourist destination. As the location where the famous scene from 'Chungking Express' was filmed, Hong Shin-ae enhances the anticipation by portraying Wong Kar-wai's character, who anxiously searches for Tony Leung.
In addition, the three visit a wonton noodle restaurant, which Leslie Cheung frequented during his lifetime and has been selected as a Michelin star restaurant for eight consecutive years. The gourmet, charmed by the texture of the egg noodles mixed with both chicken and duck eggs, requests the owner to reveal the secret recipe. When the owner responds, "It's impossible to reveal everything," the gourmet humorously quips, "No place in the world would disclose the recipe 100%." The show will air today at 7:50 p.m.
