Jinu from 'Salim Nam 2' revealed the story behind rejecting a stage with IVE member Jang Won-young.
On the afternoon of the 28th, KBS 2TV's entertainment program 'Salim Nam: Season 2' featured the story of Park Seo-jin planning his father's 70th birthday party and an episode of Jinu, who made his first appearance as a 'NEW Salim Nam'. The viewer rating recorded 6.4% nationwide according to Nielsen Korea, and the scene where the three generations of the Park family heard their father's knee examination results showed a peak rating of 7.4%.
That day, Jinu's daily life was revealed as he newly joined 'Salim Nam'. Before Jinu's appearance, his beautiful wife, reminiscent of Han Go-eun, caught attention. Notably, his wife is a CEO in the IT industry and a lawyer, boasting one of the highest qualifications among past participants of 'Salim Nam', which inspired admiration. Despite coming from a difficult family background, his wife achieved her dream of becoming a lawyer and revealed her daily routine by saying, "I break my time into 30-minute units," as she juggled her roles as a wife, mother, lawyer, and businesswoman.
Then, Jinu, a 'original hip-hop warrior' who dominated the 1990s and the new star of 'Salim Nam', made his appearance. Unlike his member, Sean, Jinu rarely appears on broadcasts, raising fans' curiosity. He shared that he is currently focused on raising his 4-year-old son, capturing attention.
In fact, the daily life of Jinu and his wife showcased a completely different flow. While his wife passionately worked amidst a busy schedule, Jinu enjoyed a leisurely break, presenting a contrasting image. Though his wife expressed concerns about the broadcast time and offered various advice, Jinu maintained his characteristic laid-back attitude without losing his composure.
Jinu's wife revealed, "My husband has the nickname 'the hip-hop sloth.' Last year, at the 'Gayo Daejeon', Jinu initially refused to perform on stage with Jang Won-young saying it was bothersome. So I told him, 'You're performing with Jang Won-young, how does it make sense to say no? You should be grateful and do this.'" She shared the behind-the-scenes story of the stage. She further stated, "You should work hard while you can. Later, you might want to do it but can't, and you may regret it," confessing that it was her strong encouragement that led Jinu to appear on 'Salim Nam', drawing attention.
Jinu transformed into a dedicated 'Salim Nam' in front of his son, expressing another layer of charm in his role as a husband and father. Having a late-born child at 51, he stated, "I thought my life had no children, but he's a turning point in my life and the biggest gift," revealing his 4-year-old son, Si-o, for the first time on the show. Jinu expressed his profound affection, saying he feels like "my heart is walking around outside of me. Before having a child, I was the priority, but now Si-o comes first. He is the biggest gift in the world."
Jinu demonstrated his unexpected charm by not only taking care of parenting and household chores but also managing the care of plants. He showed his dedication by personally growing plants and catching flies for his son, who is interested in carnivorous plants. Jinu shared, "Until my child turns 13, mom and dad will be the best. After that, friends, girlfriends, and my wife will take priority. So, for that ten years, I want to be right beside my child. Having a child late is so precious, and I always want to be with him."
Afterward, Jinu spent time alone with his wife. His wife, worried about her husband's health due to a family history of diabetes, suggested that he exercise with Sean. She also inquired about Sean's whereabouts and expressed her hope, saying, "Let's put Si-o aside for a moment and let's ease up on housework so that Jinu can start new activities again."
However, Jinu showed a somewhat uncomfortable reaction to his wife's loving nagging. He hesitated, saying, "I want to cherish my child, who I had late, and I always want to be with him. If it gets busier, I might have to leave my son with someone else, which I dislike." In response, MC Eun Ji-won noted, "I fully understand Jinu's feelings," while Baek Ji-young shared, "From the wife's perspective, it might feel regrettable to let go of her husband's talent." Nevertheless, after listening to his wife's sincere feelings, Jinu responded positively and looked forward to future activities.
