Former Big Bang member Choi Seung-hyun (Top) is actively promoting Season 3 of 'Squid Game,' despite mixed reviews.
On the afternoon of the 28th, the finale event for the Netflix series 'Squid Game' Season 3 was held in Seoul's Sejong-daero. Directors and leading actors from Seasons 1 to 3, including Hwang Dong-hyuk, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, Yim Siwan, and Kang Ha-neul, all gathered to meet fans.
Notably, Choi Seung-hyun also appeared on stage, drawing attention, as he played the washed-up rapper 'Thanos' in Season 2.
Choi Seung-hyun was indicted in 2016 for marijuana use, receiving a 10-month prison sentence and 2 years of probation, after which he suspended his entertainment activities. After spending time in reflection, he returned with a role in 'Squid Game' Season 2, but he faced controversies over nepotism casting and acting skills.
In fact, he was excluded from key promotional events such as the Season 2 production presentation and global showcases, and even after its release, public opinion was mixed. He later clarified his position on the controversy through an interview.
However, leading up to the Season 3 release, Choi Seung-hyun participated in the U.S. promotion, engaging in full-scale promotional activities. On the 1st, he made a surprise appearance at Netflix's global fan event 'TUDUM 2025' held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, stating, "I might have surprised you by showing up, but I couldn't miss such a wonderful event."
At the event on the 28th, Choi Seung-hyun expressed, "I am grateful to be part of this great work," adding, "I have learned a lot. I want to thank Director Hwang Dong-hyuk once again and say that you worked hard."
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game 3' depicts the final choices of Gi-hun, who participates in the game again, the Frontman, who conceals his identity, and the surviving participants.
