Comedian Yoon Hyung-bin achieved a TKO victory against YouTuber Banzz in a mixed martial arts match.
On the afternoon of the 28th, the 'Goubne Road FC 073' event was held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, where the final match of the second part of the tournament featured a special event match between Yoon Hyung-bin and Banzz. On that day, Ha Ha, Byeon Ki-soo, Kim Si-duk, and Bae Seung-woo were spotted watching the match.
This match was made possible after Banzz called out Yoon Hyung-bin following his victory in the 'Fighter 100' match, and it drew attention due to the condition that he would delete his YouTube channel in the event of a loss.
The match, contested in the '-79kg weight class,' had special rules prohibiting elbow strikes, considering that both competitors were not professional fighters.
To prepare for this match, Yoon Hyung-bin adjusted his diet and training, losing more than 11 kg and passing the weigh-in at -78.5 kg. He stated, "I am ready in all aspects: striking, grappling, and stamina. I will repay you with a match that I won't regret." Banzz also passed the weigh-in, declaring, "Even if you tell me to fight right now, I can do it," showing his determination.
On that day, Yoon Hyung-bin started by engaging in a probing exchange and, at the moment Banzz launched a kick, he landed a right hook that knocked Banzz down as his first strike. Following that, Yoon Hyung-bin pushed Banzz down with ground and pound, achieving a TKO victory in the first round.
After the match, Yoon Hyung-bin remarked, "I wanted to win so badly, and I feel that my wish has reached its destination." He added, "Banzz also prepared very hard, which made me more nervous and inspired me to prepare even harder, so I'm very glad that there was a good result." He continued, "Now that the match is over, I hope my wife and family won't worry too much," and expressed gratitude to his coach, saying, "This was also my retirement match in martial arts, and my coach helped me a lot, for which I am very thankful. I am putting down my fighting gloves here, but I will always support you."
Regarding the condition of deleting YouTube channels with Banzz, he added, "I've thought about it, but deleting it feels a bit wrong, so I will start posting my videos on Banzz's channel from now on," catching attention.
Yoon Hyung-bin's wife, Jeong Kyung-mi, posted on social media that day, "Let's stop. Thank you so much to everyone who supported today's match. It seems like I am calm, but that is not the case. Let's stop martial arts now, honey~" She added, "While my husband is the one getting his body in shape like this, he looks great! The best among 47-year-olds!! Good job, honey! Just try doing it again!! (Please don't tell me to do it side by side!)"
Meanwhile, Yoon Hyung-bin made a name for himself in mixed martial arts with a victory over a Japanese athlete in 2014. Since then, he won in a comeback match held in Japan in May 2023, but lost in a Road FC match in December of the same year, holding a record of 1 win and 2 losses.
Banzz, a former judo athlete, trained in judo for three years during middle school and is now a popular YouTuber with 2.04 million subscribers.
