The Korea Music Label Industry Association (음레협) hosted the 'KINDIE Summit' from June 19 to 20 at the Handball Stadium of Olympic Park in Seoul, successfully creating a meaningful platform for cooperation and expansion within the Asian music industry.
The 'KINDIE Summit' is an international music industry conference held in conjunction with 'MyK FESTA,' where experts from various Asian countries participated to engage in in-depth discussions centered on the music industry's distribution ecosystem.
On the first day, June 19, a session titled 'Asian Music Network: Directions for Sustainable Cooperation and Expansion' was held. Noh Geon-sik, vice president of the Korea Music Label Industry Association and co-CEO of Sound Republica, served as the moderator, and representatives from various Asian countries participated as panelists, including Han Xiao (CEO of XAA Entertainment Group, China), Keith Tan (founder and CEO of Slate Entertainment, Singapore), MiMi Shimada (global marketing director of IMCJ, Japan), Shogo Komiyama (founder of Japonicus, Japan), and Wei-Ning Hung (founder of 9 KICK Agency, Taiwan).
During this session, which lasted about two hours, there was a heated discussion on sustainable cooperation models and expansion strategies in the Asian music market, and even after the session concluded, spontaneous networking continued between speakers and attendees.
On June 20, the second session titled 'Music Distribution and Marketing in the Digital Age: Strategic Insights by Global Platforms' was held. In this session, Kwak Young-ho, CEO of HANTER Global, served as the moderator and introduced cases of leveraging K-POP big data and AI technology. Kim Aaron (CEO of Seed X), Seo Hee (head of the platform data team at YG Plus), Jang Seo-hyun (head of the IP production team at NHN Bugs), and Cha Sang-soo (deputy minister of the strategy business division at Fluxus) participated as panelists. They shared insights on digital music distribution strategies of each platform, data-driven music marketing cases, and ways to enhance IP value with participants.
During this event, exhibition booths featuring major corporations in music production and distribution, including .MUSIC, Kit Better (Muse Live), Ruby Record, and Music Guide, operated, garnering great interest from on-site visitors.
The 'KINDIE Summit' is an international conference that diagnoses the current state of the Asian music industry and seeks future cooperation possibilities, successfully concluded with active participation from various music stakeholders, including label representatives, artists, industry professionals, and applied music majors. The Korea Music Label Industry Association plans to continue providing a platform for the global expansion of the domestic music industry.
