The last filial piety for a patriotic service member's father... Shin Hyun-joon shines a light on his wife's dedication amid an invitation to the Blue House.
Actor Shin Hyun-joon has recently been invited to the Blue House guesthouse as a member of a patriotic service family, with the story of his wife, Kim Kyung-mi, who cared for his ailing father, being highlighted once again.
On the 27th, Shin Hyun-joon shared a photo of himself with President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung on his social media, revealing the honorable invitation to fans. That day, the Blue House held a meaningful event to thank over 160 patriotic service members and their families in celebration of 'National Defense and Veteran's Month.' Shin Hyun-joon was specially invited as the son of the late Colonel Shin In-kyun, a Korean War veteran.
Shin Hyun-joon's sincere efforts to carry on the legacy of his father, who dedicated himself to the country, have resonated with many people. Meanwhile, his family's story is once again becoming a topic of conversation.
In a broadcast last November on Channel A's 'Dad is a Flowering Middle-Aged Man,' Shin Hyun-joon recalled, 'When my father was very ill, he held on for 20 hours because my wife said she was coming, and he opened his eyes when she finally arrived.' He moved a room in their newlywed home into a hospital room and revealed that his wife dedicated herself to caring for his father for a year, evoking strong emotions.
Shin Hyun-joon expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, 'Thinking back to that time, I am still so thankful to my wife,' while fellow guest Kim Gu-ra added, 'You really need to treat such a wife well,' adding to the emotional moments.
Internet users also expressed support, stating, 'This is why the family deserves to be invited to the Blue House,' 'It's truly impressive how she looks after her in-laws,' 'A true filial son for both family and country.'
Meanwhile, Shin Hyun-joon married cellist Kim Kyung-mi, who is 12 years younger, in 2013, and they have three children, showing his warm fatherly side through family-centered entertainment programs.
