Actors Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon team up for 'There is no next life.'
On the 26th, the production team of TV Chosun's new weekend miniseries 'There is no next life' (written by Shin Yi-won, directed by Seong Do-jun) announced the confirmed casting of Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon.
'There is no next life' is a comedic coming-of-age story about three friends in their forties, who are exhausted by their daily struggles of parenting and the rat race of work. It depicts the 'growing pains' of the three friends facing what is considered the second puberty, the most unstable and chaotic period in life, as they strive once again to live their lives well.
'There is no next life' presents a new milestone in 'humanism woman-centric drama,' created by director Seong Do-jun, who realistically expressed warm humanity and humanism in the drama 'Uncle,' and writer Shin Yi-won, recognized for her emotional writing with complex compositions in 'The Green Mothers' Club.' With Netflix streaming confirmed, it forecasts the birth of a 'highly relatable drama,' vividly portraying the intense growing pains of those in their forties and reviving hearts.
First, Kim Hee-sun plays Jo Na-jeong, a former promising host who used to earn an eight-figure salary but has now become a mother of two and faces career interruption. In the drama, Jo Na-jeong embarks on a 'life re-challenge' to return as an eight-figure salary host from a housewife. Kim Hee-sun has proven her wide spectrum by transcending genres in works such as 'Tomorrow,' 'Alice,' and 'The Bride of Black,' and she deeply conveys the complex emotions of a middle-aged woman caught between reality and ideals in 'There is no next life,' demonstrating absolute relatability.
Han Hye-jin stars as Gu Ju-young, the head of planning at the most luxurious art center in Korea, responsible for planning high-level performances. In the drama, Gu Ju-young appears to have everything perfect but endures pain while striving to conceive with her asexual husband. Han Hye-jin, who has won public love with her authentic acting in 'Sacred Divorce,' 'Outing,' and 'A Warm Word,' shows a special presence with her flexible control of tension and release.
Jin Seo-yeon appears as Lee Il-ri, a deputy editor at a fashion magazine and a Gold Miss. In the drama, Lee Il-ri was a standout figure in college, known for her unique fashion, being referred to as a walking runway. After building her skills as a fashion editor, she ascends to the deputy editor position, all while harboring dreams of marriage that remain unfulfilled. With an impressive filmography, including dramas and films like 'The Drug King,' 'One the Woman,' and 'Happily Ever After,' audiences are eager to see what new color Jin Seo-yeon will bring to the small screen.
The production team stated, 'A historic casting featuring Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon as the three protagonists of 'There is no next life' has been realized.' They noted, 'The story of three friends experiencing the growing pains of adulthood at the threshold of their forties will resonate widely, providing a drama that satisfies the longing for emotional connection for women in their 20s to 50s.'
'There is no next life' is set to premiere in November.
