The new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama, The Defects (directed by Oh Ki-hwan / written by Ahn So-jung / produced by Group 8 and Take One Studio), will premiere on July 21 (Monday) at 10 p.m. It is an action thriller that portrays the desperate survival and revenge of children who barely survived on the brink of death after being abandoned by their adoptive parents. Featuring trusted actors Yum Jung-ah, Won Jina, and Choi Young-jun, along with skilled all-rounder Kim Jin-young, the solid casting has been generating buzz even before the airing.
The teaser poster released today (25th) features a dark and chilly atmosphere, with a shocking phrase, "I'm trying to return a child," written on an empty shopping cart, sparking curiosity. The poster, which breaks through the tragic worldview of buying and selling abandoned children and confronts social taboos, delivers a strong impact with just a single image.
The first teaser video released alongside it centers around the actual leader of an illegal adoption trafficking organization, Kim Se-hee (played by Yum Jung-ah), as precarious situations constantly unfold, providing extreme suspense. Kim Ah-hyun (played by Won Jina), who was returned after adoption but dramatically survived, cries out, "How could a person do this?" while the children plead desperately, saying, "Please save us." The human weapon Jung Hyun (played by Kim Jin-young), raised personally by Se-hee, hints at a breathless narrative of chasing and being chased, raising the intensity to new heights.
