The group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, THE 8, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) achieved the highest ranking for a foreign artist on the Japan Oricon's first half album chart.
According to the first half 'Oricon Ranking 2025' released on the 25th by Oricon (covering the period from Dec. 9, 2024, to June 8, 2025), SEVENTEEN's 5th studio album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY' ranked 2nd in the 'Combined Album Ranking' and 3rd in the 'Album Ranking'. This is the highest ranking among foreign artists' albums.
'HAPPY BURSTDAY' topped the Oricon 'Daily Album Ranking' immediately after its release last month and reached the top of both the 'Weekly Album Ranking' and 'Weekly Combined Ranking'. SEVENTEEN surpassed 500,000 copies in shipment just five days after the release of their 5th studio album, earning the 'Double Platinum' certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, which indicates an explosive local response.
In addition, SEVENTEEN's Japanese single 4th 'Shohikigen (消費期限/소비기한)', released on Nov. 27 last year, secured a spot in the rankings of the 'Single Ranking', demonstrating its 'long-running popularity'. This album not only swept the top spots of major local charts at the time of its release but also ranked first in the 'Top Single Sales' in the Billboard Japan '2025 First Half Chart' released on the 6th (covering the period from Nov. 25, 2024, to May 25, 2025).
SEVENTEEN will perform the theme song 'Where love passed (愛が通り過ぎた跡/あいが とおりすぎた あと)' for the Korea-Japan joint drama 'HAATZ DOGS (初DOGs),' which will air for the first time on the Japanese terrestrial broadcaster TBS on the 1st of next month. Woozi participated in writing and composing the song, completing a poignant piece that reflects the longing for a love that has passed.
