The global girl group KATSEYE, from HYBE and Geffen Records, made another mark on the U.S. Billboard main song chart 'Hot 100.'
According to the latest U.S. Billboard chart released on June 24 (local time), KATSEYE (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, Yoonchae)'s single 'Gnarly' took the No. 98 spot on this week's 'Hot 100.' This is its 3rd week on the chart. 'Gnarly' earlier entered the 'Hot 100' at No. 92 (dated May 17) before taking a brief pause, then surged back up the chart, re-entering at No. 90 last week (dated June 21), securing its position on the Billboard main chart for two consecutive weeks.
'Gnarly' is also maintaining solid popularity on the Billboard Global Song Chart. The song has recorded No. 56 on the 'Global 200' and No. 47 on the 'Global (excluding U.S.)' chart. It has charted for seven consecutive weeks on both charts. This chart is considered one measure to quickly understand trends in the global music market, as it ranks based solely on streaming numbers and music sales, unlike the 'Hot 100.'
Another single, 'Gabriela,' is also receiving a warm response. The song soared to No. 13 on Spotify's latest 'Daily Top Song Global' (dated June 23). After ranking No. 44 on the day of its release (June 20), it climbed to No. 34 (June 21) and No. 25 (June 22) in a rising trend.
KATSEYE will release its second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' on the 27th. The album will include a total of five tracks, including 'Gnarly' and 'Gabriela,' as well as 'Gameboy,' 'Mean Girls,' and 'M.I.A.' Their popularity surge, after an intense warm-up, is highly anticipated.
Major foreign media outlets, including the American music magazine Rolling Stone, are also paying attention to KATSEYE's activities. Rolling Stone described KATSEYE as "a team that has emerged as the present and future of pop girl groups," expressing great expectations for their upcoming release 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS.'
