Actors Kim Min-kyu and Won Kyu-bin are bringing a new wind through 'Cheongdam International High School 2'.
The new drama 'Cheongdam International High School 2' (written by Kwak Young-im, directed by Lim Dae-woong and Park Hyung-won, produced by Why Not Media and Rian Contents), which is set to premiere on July 3, combines a power game set in the elite Cheongdam International High School with a coming-of-age romance, making it a high teen psychological thriller drama.
Kim Min-kyu plays the role of Cha Jin-wook, the illegitimate child from a newly emerging conglomerate who transfers to Cheongdam International High School, while Won Kyu-bin plays the role of Lee Sa-rang, a new student who follows in the footsteps of her older brother Lee So-mang (Yu Jeong-hoo) to become a member of 'Diamond 6'. The two are new characters introduced this season, expected to add tension to the drama.
While expectations are high for the exciting visuals and perfect narrative brought by Kim Min-kyu and Won Kyu-bin, the two revealed the charms of their respective characters and their filming impressions on the 25th.
First, Kim Min-kyu shared the reason for choosing the project, saying, 'I was intrigued because it was a genre and character I had not done before,' adding, 'I thought it was a good opportunity to show a new side of myself as an actor, so I decided to participate.'
He expressed that he had many discussions with the director regarding the work, stating, 'Since I am joining in a new season, I thought about how I could express the character dimensionally without feeling out of place.' He revealed his unique enthusiasm, saying, 'Cha Jin-wook has an inexplicably charming appeal that is not unpleasant. At first, it's hard to tell what he is thinking, but as time goes on, his actions become convincing. That aspect makes him a very attractive character.'
In addition, Kim Min-kyu increased anticipation by noting character keywords like 'illegitimate child,' 'poker face,' and 'lonely wolf.' He said, 'The character Cha Jin-wook has the fatal flaw of being an illegitimate child, and he can be depicted with a poker face that is hard to read. Won Kyu-bin, who is making his first appearance in a drama through this work, expressed excitement, saying, 'I was one of the viewers who enjoyed the previous season. I was really curious about what story would unfold in this season,' and added, 'I was honored to be cast as Lee Sa-rang and wanted to express the lovely character of Lee Sa-rang well.'
Won Kyu-bin, who prepared extensively for the character, revealed, 'There is a scene in the drama where I ride a motorcycle, so I got a motorcycle license and also grew my hair to express the lovable charm of Lee Sa-rang with a fluffy hairstyle.'
Finally, Won Kyu-bin shared, 'This is a very special project as it is my first work in life.
