Actors Choo Young-Woo and Cho Yi-hyun have proven their potential as leading stars.
The new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' (written by Yang Ji-hoon, directed by Kim Yong-wan, planned by CJ ENM, produced by Studio Dragon, DEXTER Pictures, and Eo Contents Group), which premiered on the 23rd, is based on a popular webtoon of the same name, depicting the perilous love story of a boy destined to die and a MZ shaman girl trying to stop it, and the unrestrained first love of eighteen-year-olds, with actors Choo Young-Woo and Cho Yi-hyun collaborating.
The two first met through KBS2's 'School 2021', which aired in 2021, and have reunited after four years.
'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' successfully captivated viewers, with the first episode recording an average rating of 4.7% in the metropolitan area, 4.3% nationwide, and a peak of 5.2%, taking first place in the same time slot, including cable and general programming channels.
In particular, the viewer rating for the target demographic of both males and females aged 20-49 recorded the highest figure among tvN Monday-Tuesday dramas in 2025, reaching a nationwide peak of 2.0%, securing first place across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasting. Additionally, it boasted a rating about 0.6 percentage points higher than the previous work 'Second Shot at Love', which had its own highest rating of 3.7%, marking the emergence of a work that broke the notable 3% barrier three months after the conclusion of 'The Black Flame of the Dragon' in March.
Moreover, Choo Young-Woo, who has already showcased four works in the first half of this year, including 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call', 'The Tale of Lady Ok', and 'Plaza', demonstrated his capacity as the male lead of 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy'. He showed hope that he could maintain the 'leading star' title even without sharing the screen with formidable senior actors like Ju Ji-hoon and Lim Ji-yeon.
Furthermore, Choo Young-Woo's charm is enhanced by visuals befitting 'first love' and a physique that seems to have stepped out of a webtoon. This raises expectations for the future development of the story and changes in the love lines in 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy.'
Meanwhile, the new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' airs every week on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 p.m.
