The group Cravity has started running again, bearing the word 'crave.' The lyrics and music, in which all members have directly participated, contain a genuine desire to create 'something that is uniquely ours.'
Recently, Cravity held a commemorative interview for the release of their second studio album, 'Dare to Crave,' at the Starship Entertainment headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and shared stories about their new album.
Cravity, who announced their comeback about seven months after releasing the single album 'Find the Orbit' in December last year, said, "This is our first comeback of 2025 and it's a studio album after three years, so there are many aspects we paid attention to and many things we are excited and looking forward to. All members participated in the lyrics, and we've included unit songs to showcase different charms, which makes us more excited."
Cravity's second studio album, 'Dare to Crave,' depicts the inner lives of boys facing cravings between escape and confrontation. It signifies a leap in which Cravity, facing a new stage of 'crave,' continues their sprint based on the narrative they have built so far.
In particular, Cravity garnered attention with various attempts, including a rebranding ahead of this comeback, a new logo, the change of their group name formed by merging 'CRAVE' and 'GRAVITY' into 'CRAVITY,' and a leadership change.
Wonjin expressed confidence, saying, "In selecting the title track, we had discussions with the members and the company and made a careful choice while listening to about 15 candidate songs. There have been changes in both the thematic and conceptual aspects. There were many parts of the choreography I wanted to focus on. Usually, the dance teacher brings the completed version, but this time, I checked several drafts, so I paid close attention to the choreography."
Moreover, as this is their first studio album in three years, all nine members participated in the lyrics. Serim and Wonjin contributed to the compositions of 'Marionette' and 'Wish Upon A Star,' respectively, while Woobin took part in the production of 'Rendez-vous.'
Serim replied, "It's been a few years since I started writing original songs, but I've never had a chance to share them with the fans. My desire for this has been very strong, and I think this album has somewhat alleviated that craving."
Alan added, "As artists who create songs and music, we have always had a desire to come together as all nine of us to gift a song to the fans. Just having all nine of us credited for the lyrics in this album feels like a great stepping stone, and I feel like I'm getting closer to that craving goal, so it's very positive and joyful."
Cravity's title track, 'SET NET G0?!(쓱腑?!)', is an electronic dance song featuring dreamy pluck synth sounds, intense BASS, and addictive vocal chops. The powerful yet surprising drop hook captivates the listener's ears while capturing the young energy and freedom that boldly breaks through the uncertain and chaotic moments of youth.
Wonjin discussed the title track, saying, "There might be an uncertain future as we Cravity challenge ourselves with something new, but we wanted to convey a message that we will continue forward firmly as we have always done. The guitar riff in the chorus sounds fresh, and I thought we could show a different side of ourselves in the performance, so we strongly pushed for this song."
Cravity previously revealed various concept photos as part of the promotion for this album, and the first version disclosed, '0,' vividly depicted Cravity breaking out of an egg, drawing attention. Some fans even jokingly wondered if it was related to 'Park Hyeokgeose.'
Regarding this, Jungmo stated, "Definitely, since we're rebranding this time, we tried a more conceptual and new challenge with this concept photo. Since it's a new challenge and there is a definite concept, fans might be a bit surprised, but when I received the drafts, I personally thought it would be really fun. During the shoot, trying something I've never done was fun, so I prepared with a positive mindset."
Wonjin continued, "There may be different reactions than we intended, but I want to give as much freedom as possible for interpretation. No matter how you interpret it, I want to express my gratitude that you looked at our concept photo," while Alan added, "As a foreigner, I didn't know what Park Hyeokgeose was. Thanks to these reactions, I feel like I learned one more aspect of K-culture, which I think is great."
Cravity celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. Given that the album's name carries the meaning of 'crave,' what is it that Cravity currently craves? Wonjin stated, "We are referred to by many epithets, one of which is 'coverbity.' While I'm grateful for the label that was given for covering someone else's work well, as we enter our sixth year, we wish to be loved by fans and the public with something that is uniquely ours. I hope the epithet we aim for is 'universal bity' since all members participated in the lyrics and contributed many opinions in the performance area, so receiving such an epithet would be wonderful."
Alan expressed strong ambition, saying, "Since we are active in the summer after a long time, people always look forward to who will be this year's summer queen in the K-pop market. We will dare to aspire to be the 'summer king' responsible for the K-pop market this year."
Finally, Wonjin said, "We are preparing to greet everyone not only with our title track but also with a powerful performance of the album tracks. We are ready to show a performance that we couldn't have imagined before. I believe we can present something sexy," raising expectations for their future activities.
Meanwhile, Cravity's second studio album, 'Dare to Crave,' will be released on the 23rd at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
