In "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant," Lee Jung-hyun realized a dream she has had for 30 years.
On the 20th, the KBS2 variety show "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant" (hereafter referred to as "Fun-Staurant") first unveiled the house that Lee Jung-hyun, the goddess of multitasking, moved into.
In that day's opening, Hyojeong asked Lee Jung-hyun, "I heard you have something to celebrate today." Lee Jung-hyun said, "I really love cooking. I want to cook properly, so I have been planning this for a long time, starting 30 years ago. I have something I have prepared for a long time, and I will show you later," piquing curiosity.
Continuing with her daily life, Lee Jung-hyun first revealed her new house. She explained, "I lived in my newlywed home for a long time and then moved to a new space," noting that it had only been a week since the move.
The highlight of the new house was the kitchen. The kitchen had not only a large dining table but also a bar table, and there were as many as five cooking burners, filled with various cooking tools and dishes. Regarding this, Lee Jung-hyun said, "I wanted to eat facing my family, so I made a bar table," and Lee Yeon-bok admired, "Just looking at the kitchen, it's clear that this person really loves cooking."
Before cooking, Lee Jung-hyun took out a giant cutting board with the help of her husband. She mentioned that it was about 80 cm and made of cypress wood. Lee Jung-hyun said, "I measured the size myself and asked the factory owner to have it made. He thought I was a restaurant owner. When I said I was just a home cook, he was surprised. I really wanted a large cutting board."
She continued, "I have a lot of cutting boards at home. What I have always wanted is a cutting board that has the scent of cypress wood. I really wanted an unprocessed log cutting board. The feeling of cutting with it is very nice. On the first day, I put it in the master bedroom and slept with it because it smelled so good. Now that it's in my kitchen, I'm so happy."
Lee Jung-hyun then mentioned, "I heard that cypress boards also have sterilizing effects. I will use this board for life. I will pass it down to my daughter who loves cooking. I inherited my late mother's rolling pin, and it's very precious to me."
Finally, Lee Jung-hyun revealed her long-held plan of 30 years: to install a cooking iron plate in her kitchen after moving into her new house. He said, "It has been my wish for 30 years. I really wanted it," stating, "I wanted to cook properly, so I wanted an iron plate since 30 years ago. I also had that made at the factory. Cooking at home creates too much smell, so I installed four exhaust fans."
He added, "I redesigned the entire kitchen. I did kitchen remodeling exclusively for iron plate cooking. I had to tear down the entire ceiling to do it. I thought, 'Finally, the iron plate I have dreamed of has arrived.' I am so excited to cook delicious food for my beloved family and precious acquaintances."
On the other hand, her husband commented on the iron plate, "In my opinion, it's just for decoration. I was against it because I foresee my fate: after cooking on that, managing the iron plate will be tough. I can predict that I will be the one cleaning it, oiling it, and tidying up. Since my wife said it was her lifelong wish, I reluctantly granted her permission."
Lee Jung-hyun commenced using the iron plate and created mouthwatering dishes. She made iron plate-grilled tenderloin for steak, tiger shrimp, giant abalone, and large scallops, culminating with a giant pajeon. Seeing this, Lee Yeon-bok said, "I want to do it too; the iron plate," expressing envy.
Lastly, using her homemade pickled plums, Lee Jung-hyun made plum bibim-myeon. She told her husband, "Honey, you can do everything now. I'm going to clock out," to which her husband replied, "The cleanup is always the last step," but Lee Jung-hyun insisted, "Hurry up and clean the iron plate. It'll spoil." Her husband complained, "I told you not to buy the iron plate for this reason," which brought laughter.
