Actor Choi Jae-won has garnered attention as the first recipient of President Lee Jae-myung's citation.
On the 18th, Choi Jae-won's agency, Blue Dragon Entertainment, stated, "Actor Choi Jae-won has received the presidential citation. We are pleased that actor Choi Jae-won's efforts to practice positive influence have been recognized."
On the 13th, Choi Jae-won attended the 9th Elder Abuse Prevention Day ceremony and received the citation from President Lee Jae-myung. After being appointed as the ambassador for elder abuse prevention in 2010, he has been recognized for his long-standing efforts to raise awareness of the seriousness of elder abuse and improve perceptions of the elderly. This award is also known as the first citation since President Lee Jae-myung took office, attracting considerable attention.
Choi Jae-won expressed humility through his agency, saying, "Since I was initially appointed as an ambassador, I found it vague and didn't know what to do regarding promoting elder rights and preventing elder abuse. So, I thought to just do my best with whatever I've been assigned, and now it's been 16 years."
He continued, "The organizers mentioned that I am the first actor to receive the presidential citation twice, which made me even more honored. Above all, my beloved mother expressed her joy by saying it is a family honor and asked if she could celebrate it with my card, which doubled my happiness."
Choi Jae-won, who received his first presidential citation through the Taxpayer Cooperation Award on Taxpayer Day in 2003, was also recognized for his contributions such as regular donations to over 20 organizations, recording audiobooks for the hearing impaired, delivering coal briquettes to low-income families, and providing kimjang services for elderly individuals living alone.
