Actor Namgoong-min is proving his worth again with "Our Movie."
In the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Our Movie" (directed by Lee Jeong-heum, written by Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min), which premiered last week, Namgoong-min took on the role of film director Lee Je-ha, captivating viewers with his deep emotional performance.
"Our Movie," attracting great interest as the comeback work of actor Namgoong-min, who is trusted and watched by audiences, has received warm responses after its premiere due to its emotionally rich dialogue, a stylish direction that oscillates between film and drama, and the passionate performances of the actors. It achieved the remarkable feat of ranking 2nd overall in the daily rankings of the integrated OTT content search platform KinoLites on June 14, just one week after its broadcast, amid praise such as, "a work that blooms like wildflowers between sensational films and dramas," and "the story, direction, music, and actors are all harmonious."
Behind this response, Namgoong-min's passionate performance as Lee Je-ha stood out. Previously, Namgoong-min noted, "If I were to reject this project, I would feel embarrassed as an actor. I really poured all my emotions into the performance," skillfully portraying the emotional depth of the character Lee Je-ha and stirring a strong resonance in viewers' hearts.
In particular, Namgoong-min's expressive eyes revealing the characteristics of Lee Je-ha, who harbors deep wounds and frustrations, evoked empathy for the character. His bitter expression, reflecting on his life situation he cannot deny while contradicting a senior director's words about not being able to produce a follow-up work, hinted at the burdens and pressures weighing down on Lee Je-ha's heart.
Additionally, Lee Je-ha realizes that his mother wrote the original draft of the movie "White Love," which he previously thought was created by his father's affair. This realization leads him to discover the reason he must remake "White Love." Namgoong-min's realistic portrayal of Lee Je-ha recalling his mother writing the beautiful love story of the film despite her painful condition brought a sense of heaviness.
Meanwhile, the indifferent yet kind charm of Lee Je-ha towards actress Lee Da-eum (played by Jeon Yeo-bin), who is serving as a terminal consultant for "White Love," evoked excitement. Namgoong-min's attention to detail shone as he absorbed the quiet and reserved character, listening to Lee Da-eum's words and contemplating his response while capturing the constantly fluctuating emotions within the story.
Thus, as Lee Je-ha becomes immersed in the unique energy that only Lee Da-eum can provide, who has not been able to produce a follow-up work, curiosity arises about how his heart will continue to change. Anticipation grows for the character Lee Je-ha, whose silent yet calm waves resonate with everyone's heart and for Namgoong-min's performance that brings this character to life.
