Singer An Chi-hwan will release a digital single titled 'Concept Celebrity' on the 19th.
According to his agency A&L Entertainment on the 17th, the song addresses the issue of reality that confines thoughts and expressions within specific word structures. It conveys a message of recognizing each other's diversity through everyday language and a lively rhythm.
The lyrics include sentences like, 'Am I strange?' and 'Does this make me leftist?' which criticize the reality of imposing political standards on celebrities.
An Chi-hwan explained through his agency, 'The language of communities is also newly created and disappears according to the flow of the world,' adding, 'Words that should not exist, such as those of new civilizations, intergenerational discussions, Chin Young words, and words among regions and classes, are being formed, and the words we cannot understand are increasing.'
'Everyone has their own position and thoughts, and has the freedom to express and live them,' he continued, stating that if we accept that diversity, the term 'concept celebrity' is unnecessary.
'I do know the fun and wit of words, but I believe that unnecessary definitions or imagery that confines thoughts are no different from censorship,' he said, expressing his hope for free thoughts and a colorful life to coexist.
An Chi-hwan started his musical activities with the singing group 'Woolimter' during his time at Yonsei University, followed by the singing gatherings 'Dawn' and 'People Looking for Songs.' Since his solo debut in 1998, he has left behind representative songs like 'Sola Sola Blue Sola,' 'Song of May,' and 'A Person Is More Beautiful Than a Flower.' Recently, he released a single 'Light of the World' and plans to announce his 14th studio album this fall.
