Actress Cho Yi-hyun revealed the reason she took on the role of a shaman.
On the afternoon of the 17th, an online event for the new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' was held, featuring director Kim Yong-wan and actors Cho Yi-hyun, Choo Young-Woo, Cha Kang-yoon, and Choo Ja-hyun, who discussed the show.
'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' is a drama about a boy with a fatal destiny and an MZ shaman girl trying to prevent it, based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of high school shaman Park Seong-a (played by Cho Yi-hyun) who confronts destiny for her first love, and Baek Gyeon-woo (played by Choo Young-Woo), who defies fate through the ordinary happiness she opens up for him, promising a sweet thrill.
On that day, Cho Yi-hyun stated the reason she joined 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' was, "First of all, I have a keen interest in shamanism. At the height of my interest, the script for 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' came to me. Since I am a fatalist, I began reading the script with that notion of destiny. Because Seong-a is a character living a double life, I thought it would be an opportunity for me to grow as an actress if I could really play the role well, so I decided to participate."
She further revealed regarding her performance as a shaman, "As can be seen in the trailer, there is a scene where we perform a ritual. To prepare for it, I learned the order of the ritual with a shaman consultant, and I asked about the tone as well, learning for quite a long time. I practiced for more than three months."
Meanwhile, tvN's 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' will air on the 23rd at 8:50 p.m.
