The representative B-boy team of Korea, Jinjo Crew, secured their position at the top of the world by winning the 'EDA Breaking Battle' competition held in Chalon, France, on June 15.
EDA (Espace des Arts) means 'space for arts' in French and is a representative multipurpose cultural and artistic complex in the Chalon area, featuring a variety of performances, exhibitions, dance, theater, and film programs, as well as the French National Center for the Performing Arts.
At such a meaningful place, Jinjo Crew won the competition last year and was invited this year as the defending champion. This year's competition featured new generation members who joined the existing solid team structure and attracted attention. This holds special significance as it demonstrates that Jinjo Crew's system of nurturing future talent has led to actual results.
The participating members are Ahn Hoon (B-boy Dsleep), Ha Tae-young (B-boy 13boy), Choi Chang-hyup (B-boy Siri), and Kim Jung-wook (B-boy Ogong), who are the next-generation members joining Jinjo Crew. Through this competition, they proved their competitiveness on the world stage based on the experience and skills accumulated by training with the existing members.
The EDA Battle featured eight teams invited from countries including Korea, France, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Africa, competing in a tournament format. Jinjo Crew triumphed over the invited all-female team in an 8-man single elimination battle. After defeating France's 'Breaking Kids' in the semifinals, they won against the technically strong Venezuelan team, 'Galactic Crew,' in the finals.
Through this competition, Jinjo Crew demonstrated sustainable competitiveness and a high-quality youth training system in the international breaking scene. They plan to continue the growth of new generation members through various international competitions and have a range of global activities planned for the second half of the year.
