YG Entertainment revealed the second trainee of its next-generation four-member rookie girl group project. This week's star is 14-year-old girl 'Chanya' from Thailand.
YG presented a video titled 'YG NEXT MONSTER | CHANYA - the grudge' on its official blog on 16th, showcasing Chanya's first stage performance. The video captures her vocal capabilities fully without any stage setup, focusing only on live performance skills.
Chanya captivated viewers instantly with her deep emotional expression and soulful tone, which belied her young age. With poignant gazes and highly immersive facial expressions, she delicately conveyed the emotions of the song, and during the climax, she unleashed powerful high notes that sent exhilarating thrills through the audience.
Immediately after the performance, chief producer Yang Hyun-suk noted, "I almost cried," expressing a heartfelt review that heated up the atmosphere in the venue.
Chanya, following the first member 'Evelli' who was revealed earlier, is the second member introduced through the YG next four-member girl group project 'YG NEXT MONSTER'. Evelli's released rap video recorded 19 million views on YouTube, and her dance performance video surpassed 7 million views, drawing explosive global attention even before debut.
As a result, Chanya also became a real-time topic among international fans immediately after her reveal, with praises such as "Unbelievable 14-year-old" and "The future of the YG vocal line" following.
Meanwhile, YG is set to reveal a total of four members in this project sequentially, with the remaining two members expected to be unveiled around the end of the year. This is reported to align with the focused promotional strategy until the end of the year, including BABYMONSTER's pre-release single 'HOT SAUCE' in July. It coincides with BLACKPINK's comeback timing, adding weight to YG's strategy for the second half of the year.
