ILLIT (Yoona, Minju, Mocha, Wonhee, Iroha) released the music video for 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)' from their mini album 'bomb' today (16th) at 6 p.m. through the HYBE Labels YouTube channel.
The music video portrayed ILLIT, who are in love, pursuing their feelings. The scene where those riding bicycles suddenly brake to avoid a cat that jumped out is reminiscent of a cartoon. Just as she is about to fall, Wonhee locks eyes with a boy and falls in love at first sight. The members, who had short hair, seemed to have their emotions expand like flowers blooming in love, making their hair grow long.
Soon after, ILLIT embarks on a journey together to find the boy. Starting from a small town to a huge city, they clumsily but boldly navigate their way out of their world and grow inch by inch. The five members accidentally spot the boy on an escalator across from them, and finally, Wonhee experiences a thrilling moment as if their first date is starting at an amusement park.
'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)' is a French house genre song that encapsulates the magical feeling of first love. The romantic yet dreamy introduction contrasts with a cheerful hook and beat that leaves a strong impression. The lyrics in French, resembling a magical spell, such as "Purr purr" and "Doom beat meow", create a unique imagery of a cat, making it unforgettable after just one listen.
The so-called 'Cat Stretch Dance' and 'Nyang Nyang Dance' showcased in the escalator group dance in the music video are the killing part. The intricate yet nimble choreography reminiscent of cat movements captivates the audience from start to finish. ILLIT will hold a 'Friends Night Picnic' at the outdoor stage of Yebit Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 17th, where they will perform 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)' for the first time.
