The group ILLIT (YoonA, MinJu, MoKa, WonHee, IroHa) has returned with an upgraded charm. With their confident appeal and enhanced skills, they are set to once again complete the formula of 'trustworthy ILLIT.'
On the 16th at 4 p.m., ILLIT held a showcase to commemorate the release of their mini album 'bomb' at YES24 Live Hall, located in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, where they first publicly unveiled their new stage. It was a comeback that showcased ILLIT's confident charm and upgraded skills.
On this day, the members of ILLIT said, "I'm really proud that we've already released three albums," adding, "This album is one where you can see ILLIT's confident charm and growth. It's our first comeback of the year, so I'm excited. We prepared diligently with the desire to do even better, having received much love."
The members continued, "This album has many new facets that we want to show quickly. While maintaining the existing image of ILLIT, we aim to showcase an upgraded version of ourselves," adding that it is "an album filled with confidence" and asking for anticipation.
The new release from ILLIT, set to be released at 6 p.m. on the 16th, is an album that goes beyond the previous two albums, which were faithful to my emotions, marking the beginning of serious interaction with you. It is an album that features ILLIT's candid and playful approach, expressed with the phrase, "Let's dance together," capturing the concept of being like a 'borrowed cat' due to mistakes made during a date with someone you like, but not wanting it to end there.
The title track "Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)" is based on the French house genre, encapsulating the excitement and freshness of a first date. The song reflects ILLIT's bold charm as it conveys an invitation to dance despite feeling like a 'borrowed cat' due to mistakes made during the date.
This song stimulates excitement with its addictive melody. It starts with a romantic and dreamy vibe, suddenly speeding up the beat, capturing a variety of charms.
The members of ILLIT described the title track "Borrowed Cat" as "a song filled with excitement and freshness. The addictive hook and beat are charming," adding, "I felt as pleasantly shocked as when I first heard the debut song 'Magnetic.' It seems to capture ILLIT's bold charm well."
The members of ILLIT also put considerable effort into preparing for the new release. YoonA, who participated in the title track's production, came up with the idea of including the phrase 'Doom-chit Nyaong' in the key lyrics, while MinJu revealed that she practiced so hard that she "tasted blood in her throat" to improve her singing skills. The challenging choreography was also practiced diligently to showcase ILLIT's unique style, highlighting the efforts of the members towards their growth.
This new release features five tracks including the title song "Borrowed Cat," as well as "Little Monster," "Jellyous," "Oops!", and "Night Picnic." The overall trendy and diverse sound of the album will further emphasize ILLIT's musical color. Combined with the upgraded vocal and performance capabilities of the members, it is expected to prove the moniker of 'trustworthy ILLIT.'
Notably, ILLIT's new release has also received support from Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of HYBE. The members expressed gratitude to him as well, stating, "We are very grateful that you took the time to write songs for us despite your busy schedule. You advised us that the choreography should be beautiful and fit the mood."
Since debuting in March last year, ILLIT has made a mark in both the domestic and global markets, quickly gaining popularity from their debut song "Magnetic." They felt pressured with each comeback due to the attention they received from the start, but they worked even harder with a thankful mindset.
The members expressed, "Though there was pressure, the gratitude we feel toward our fans is even greater," adding, "We are trying harder to convey positive energy. We want to hear that 'ILLIT's music is always good' and 'ILLIT's performances are always anticipated.'"
