SEVENTEEN member HOSHI surprised fans by releasing an unreleased self-composed song to celebrate his birthday.
On the 15th, HOSHI uploaded a video of the song "I Want You Back," which he participated in writing and composing, to the official SEVENTEEN YouTube channel. This song features a medium tempo pop blending lingering piano sounds and synth pads, with repetitive vocal chops and HOSHI's soft vocal tone maximizing emotional depth.
The released video enhances the immersion in the song with a presentation that bridges the happy past and a present tinged with longing. HOSHI draws attention with a calm and lyrical charm that contrasts with his charismatic stage presence. Nostalgia-inducing props like MP3 players and film cameras also provide visual interest.
In a Weverse Live broadcast conducted that day, HOSHI noted, "I'm very fond of this song, so I'm happy to share it with you all," and expressed his curiosity about how CARATs (the fandom) would feel about the song since he participated in its production.
HOSHI has showcased a wide music spectrum by posting unreleased solo songs like the mixtape "Spider" released in 2021, as well as "STAY," "Tiger (Feat. Tiger JK)," and "Tiger Power" on YouTube. His recently released regular 5th album, "HAPPY BURSTDAY," includes the solo track "Damage (HOSHI Solo) (feat. Timbaland)," which collaborates with legendary American producer Timbaland.
Recently wrapping up successful team activities for the regular 5th album, HOSHI continues to stay active with the special unit HOSHI X WOOZI. They previously announced the leader's mission song "ECHO! (Prod. WOOZI)" for Mnet's "World of Street Woman Fighter," and will hold the "HOSHI X WOOZI FAN CONCERT [WARNING]" in Seoul, Busan, Taipei, Yokohama, and Gwangju in July and August.
