It has already been 8 years since actress Yoon So-jung passed away.
Yoon So-jung died on June 16, 2017, at the age of 74. At that time, she passed away due to sudden sepsis while receiving treatment for pneumonia caused by an aggravated cold.
On June 20 of that year, numerous colleagues and junior actors, along with theater professionals, gathered at Marronnier Park in Daehakro, Seoul, to bid their final farewell to Yoon So-jung. Actress Gil Hae-yeon delivered a tribute, while her close colleague Son Sook read a eulogy. Others in attendance included Myung Gye-nam, Yoon Seok-hwa, Shin Eun-jung, and Shin So-yul.
Yoon So-jung debuted as a theater actress in 1961 and expanded her career into broadcasting the following year as a TBS first-term open talent. She appeared in various dramas such as "Separation and Love," "Work and Love," "Princess Lulu," "My Daughter Geum Bi," "Alice in Cheongdam-dong," "Goddess of Marriage," and "Woman of the Storm," as well as in films including "One Day" and "The King's Man."
In particular, Yoon So-jung left a strong impression by perfectly portraying a creepy mother-in-law character obsessing over her son in the film "The Rope." It was a work that showcased her intense presence, still talked about by the public and fans.
She also displayed her passion for acting through various performances on stage with plays like "Forest Fire," "Graduation," and "Goodnight, Mom." She continued to grace the stage with works including "Gaze," "God's Agnes," "Amy," and "Mother" until the year she passed away. Her last work was the drama "A Mutual Love."
Yoon So-jung, who had a strong passion for acting, received numerous accolades at various award ceremonies, including the 16th Dong-A Theatre Awards, the 19th Dong-A Theatre Awards, the 31st Baeksang Arts Awards Best Supporting Actress, the 38th Daejong Film Awards Best Supporting Actress, the 17th Lee Hae-rang Theatre Awards, and the 3rd Korea Theatre Awards Acting Award.
Yoon So-jung's husband, actor Oh Hyun-kyung, passed away on March 1 of last year after losing his wife.
