Trot singer So-myung, who worked day and night with 'Bye Bye Ya', revealed that she battled a malignant tumor last year.
On the 17th at 10 p.m., the comprehensive channel TV CHOSUN will air 'Dad and I', featuring trot singer So-myung, who takes on the role of 'promotion fairy' for her daughter So-yumi. So-yumi is preparing for a solo concert in Japan to step out of her father's shadow. After seeing five audience members at her daughter's first concert, So-myung prepared flyers, balloons, and banners for promotion and went directly to the streets to distribute them ahead of her second concert.
Suffering from a tiring day of promoting her daughter So-yumi's second solo concert, they had a late dinner together, and for the first time, So-yumi said, "I feel like I'm on a trip for the first time," expressing happiness at the newfound leisure. In fact, So-yumi had never experienced a trip with her father. As the mega hit song 'Bye Bye Ya' became popular, So-myung was so busy with 5 to 6 events per day that she drove alone, and while fulfilling her 'dream of being a singer', family was forgotten. So-yumi lamented, "How is it possible that we've never traveled together…"
So-myung expressed regret and apology, saying, "I think I was really foolish for only looking ahead without looking to the side. I think I missed the truly precious family." So-yumi then asked, "Didn't your thoughts change after you fell ill, Dad?" So-myung admitted, "Going through a great pain and being sick made me think, 'Life can really come to an end quite hopelessly.'" Last year, So-myung discovered a malignant tumor and devoted a year to surgery and treatment. So-yumi explained, "They found it just before it became serious. They said if it had been five months later, it would have been a tremendous situation."
