Park Tae-hwan from 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' confessed that his happiest moment was when he bought a house and a car for his parents.
In the episode aired on the 13th on KBS2, 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereafter 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant'), Park Tae-hwan's revelation about his family history was featured.
During his active career, Park Tae-hwan woke up every day at 4 a.m. and trained rigorously for 16 hours until 10 p.m. In response to the question, 'How did you endure the grueling training during your active years?' he confessed, 'My mother was battling cancer when I was young and it was hard for her.'
He continued, 'I didn't aim to be number one in swimming for myself; I needed to do as much as I could for my parents. No matter how much pain I felt, I thought that the pain my mother felt was nothing compared to that.'
Additionally, Park Tae-hwan said, 'Swimming takes so much breath that it feels like I'm going to burst or die, but I don't die. I thought that no matter how much pain I was experiencing, compared to what my mother felt, this pain was just a minor complaint.'
Especially recalling his happiest moments, he shared, 'Of course, winning first place feels the best, but aside from that, I think gifting my parents a house and a car brought me happiness. That time was quite joyful.'
Regarding Park Tae-hwan's demonstration of his filial duties, it was remarked, 'He's a true filial son.' Hyunjeong and Lee Yeonbok responded, 'His parents must have felt proud.'
Park Tae-hwan caught attention when he stated that after spending nearly 30 years in the water, he dislikes water now that he is retired.
He said, 'When the Olympics are over, I barely shower and just eat and sleep. There were times I wanted to quit in the middle. I wanted to do another sport. Since I'm locked in and do it alone, I only see the bottom in swimming, and the sport of swimming feels like a solitary race I must win every day of the year, circling the track tens of thousands of times. That was very hard for me.'
