"Ten attempts at in vitro fertilization and even chemotherapy for an ectopic pregnancy" Lee Jung-min's confession about her childbirth journey earned respect from obstetricians.
"I really respect you"... Medical professionals were impressed by Lee Jung-min's childbirth story, a former announcer.
On the 13th, during the TV Chosun variety show "Our Baby Was Born," Lee Jung-min appeared as a VIP screening guest, attracting attention. After declaring her departure from broadcasting, she had been inactive for a while, but it turned out she is the mother of a 13-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son.
On this day, Lee Jung-min revealed for the first time the journey to have her second son, surprising everyone. She said, "I had my first child through natural conception and natural delivery, but for the second, I attempted in vitro fertilization as many as 10 times while timing everything," and she disclosed, "That period alone lasted 6 to 7 years." She continued, "There was also an ectopic pregnancy during that process. I had to undergo chemotherapy, and it eventually led to a miscarriage," adding that "that time was so tough." An obstetrician even said, "I really respect you."
The childbirth itself was not easy either. With 7 hours of labor, Lee Jung-min stated, "The baby did not come down, so I ultimately had to have a cesarean section," explaining, "The baby did not descend even in a lotus position, so I had to be operated on immediately."
He also shared that he almost fell under the category of "high-risk mother." "Due to my age, I could have been classified as a high-risk mother, and even slight deviations could have required hospitalization in the high-risk mother and newborn center," recalling the tense situation at the time.
The obstetrician present that day noted, "Even with the same diagnosis, there is not a single identical mother. The condition of both the mother and baby can change rapidly, so we always proceed with delivery in a state of tension," adding, "Mothers who endure those difficult moments are true heroes."
Meanwhile, "Our Baby Was Born" is a variety show that conveys emotion by sharing the moment of birth based on real delivery scenes, airing every Thursday.
