A suspect who committed graffiti terror insulting singer BoA has been apprehended by the police.
According to an MBC report on the 13th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station apprehended the suspect who wrote graffiti insulting singer BoA at around 10:30 p.m. the previous night in various locations throughout the city.
Recently, graffiti containing malicious comments directed at BoA was detected at public transportation stops and billboards in areas such as Gangnam Station, Sinnonhyeon Station, and Yeoksam-daero in Gangnam District, as well as in Gwangjin District and Gangdong District, shocking fans. Fans who discovered the graffiti took action by erasing it themselves.
Following this news, her agency SM Entertainment issued an official statement on the 11th, noting, "After directly inspecting the scene near Gangnam Station, we reported it, and the local police station is conducting an investigation, and additional formal charges will also be filed today."
Subsequently, on the 12th, CCTV footage showing the suspect was revealed through a Channel A news report, drawing attention. The suspect recorded on CCTV was seen carrying a handbag and had short hair. The suspect stopped while walking down the street, took out a pen, and wrote something on a no parking sign, and the suspect's graffiti was also detected on a utility pole.
In the meantime, the police tracked the CCTV and identified the suspect. The suspect is reportedly a woman in her 30s, and the police plan to investigate the circumstances and reasons behind the graffiti.
Meanwhile, BoA has been in a war of nerves with online trolls since last year. She appeared in the tvN drama "Marry My Husband" as the villain Oh Yu-ra and suffered from malicious comments critiquing her acting ability and appearance. Furthermore, she expressed her intention to retire after her contract expired, causing concern among fans. Subsequently, she deleted all her social media posts and stated that she is initiating a large-scale lawsuit against trolls both domestically and internationally through her agency.
