The six members of 'Brain Academy' have finally achieved their first 'Knowledge Medal' in the field of science.
In the third episode of Channel A's quiz show 'Brain Academy,' which aired on Dec. 12 at 10 p.m., the six 'entertainment industry brains' Jun Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, Lee Sang-yeob, Yoon Sohui, Hwang Je-seong, and Gweido showcased their knowledge chemistry with 'Science Master' Professor Kim Sang-wook through science quizzes. They successfully obtained the 'Knowledge Medal' for the first time, providing viewers who were solving quizzes together with thrilling excitement and beneficial laughter.
During the opening of the show, Gweido said, 'Whatever the topic may be today, I will solve it with science. Wasn't architecture and psychology science too?' demonstrating his 'science brain.' Jun Hyun-moo teased him, asking, 'Did you film a different segment alone?' which sparked playful chemistry from the start. Soon after, when the field was revealed to be 'science,' there was surprise as Master Professor Kim Sang-wook appeared. Professor Kim stated, 'Everything in our daily lives is the result of science. Today, let's examine the important moments and decisive scenes in human history that have changed history under the theme, 'How has science caused revolutions?' opening the 'science quiz show.'
Professor Kim Sang-wook first mentioned 'astronomy' and asked, 'Why is Mars red?' To this, Gweido replied, 'Because it has a lot of iron,' and Jun Hyun-moo added, 'Because blood is red too,' earning high praise from Professor Kim, who said, 'Very good.' As Jun Hyun-moo displayed the demeanor of the 'big brother,' the first question was posed, asking the names of the planets in the picture. The six brains easily answered the question while sharing their opinions without exception. As everyone's spirit was high, Professor Kim Sang-wook began discussing the 'geocentric theory' and unexpectedly posed the second question. The question was, 'How did Aristotle confirm that the earth is round through an eclipse?' Ha Seok-jin speculated, 'Couldn't it be that the earth blocked the sun, making the shadow appear round?' which turned out to be the correct answer.
Next, Professor Kim Sang-wook said, 'In the 16th century, the true scientific revolution began with Galileo Galilei, the 'father of science,' mentioning his 'heliocentric theory.' He continued, 'However, due to the social atmosphere combining the 'geocentric theory' (that the earth is at the center) with religion, Galileo could not avoid punishment,' and posed the third question, 'What was the punishment he received after officially retracting his claims in court?' Hwang Je-seong recalled the 'Surprise' show, saying, 'I think he shouted, 'I am a fool,' and offered an interesting answer. At that moment, Yoon Sohui guessed, 'Confinement?' and Lee Sang-yeob suggested, 'Wasn't it house arrest?' correctly answering the question.
Following that, Professor Kim Sang-wook mentioned, 'After Galileo Galilei died under (life) house arrest, a tremendous scientist was born,' and introduced the story of Newton. He then asked, 'What is the title of the book in which Newton organized the system of classical mechanics?' filling in the blank, presenting a quiz. The members mentioned basic terms like 'basic,' 'fundamental,' and 'concept,' but Jun Hyun-moo calmly suspected, 'There must be a core word.' At that moment, Gweido, who was racking his brain, asked, 'Is it fundamental, basic... mathematical?' Yoon Sohui exclaimed, 'Mathematical! I think it is,' triggering a breakthrough and correctly answering.
The efforts of Yoon Sohui, the 'only woman,' led to a discussion of Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. Professor Kim said, 'Marie Curie discovered new elements related to radioactivity,' and posed a quiz asking to complete a six-letter answer using the element symbol for the blank in the periodic table, sending everyone into a collective confusion. In the midst of the crisis, Ha Seok-jin stated, 'If I recall correctly, element 32 is definitely germanium.' Combining element symbols, Yoon Sohui suddenly exclaimed, 'Ah! Genius,' accurately deducing the answer and exploding the 'science chemistry.' Subsequently, Professor Kim explained Einstein's 'theory of relativity' in a simple and fun way, while also exposing his personal life filled with 'womanizing,' shocking the studio. He then posed the question, 'Where did Einstein use the full Nobel Prize money?' Lee Sang-yeob remarked, 'Wasn't it divorce settlement?' and correctly answered.
Finally, Professor Kim Sang-wook posed the last question: 'What new physical theory was Einstein absolutely unwilling to accept, as evidenced by the fact that he made several rebuttals?' Gweido confidently shouted, 'He never accepted quantum mechanics until the day he died,' providing a correct answer. The 'six brains,' who got all the quizzes right, finally won their first Knowledge Medal. Jun Hyun-moo proudly declared, 'The science segment was the best ever. However, paradoxically, we obtained the Knowledge Medal and a prize of 3 million won from this difficult science segment,' filling the studio with cheers.
