Kim Tae-i (real name Kim In-sik), who appeared in 'Love Transfer 2,' received a suspended prison sentence in the first trial for injuring a pedestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol.
On the 12th, Director General Jang Seong-jin of the 21st Criminal Court of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim Tae-i to 1 year and 4 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, on charges including dangerous driving resulting in injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes. In addition, Kim was ordered to complete 20 hours of community service and 40 hours of law-abiding driving lectures.
When the police arrived, a friend surnamed Moon, who testified that he drove in place of Kim Tae-i to cover up the drunk driving, was fined 4 million won.
Earlier, Kim Tae-i was caught by the police for drunk driving in September last year near Sinsa-dong in the Gangnam District of Seoul. According to the agency, Esteem Entertainment, Kim was waiting in the car after calling a designated driver, but had to move the vehicle at the request of the parking attendant inside the building, during which an accident occurred, colliding with a passing pedestrian.
At that time, the agency stated, "Kim Tae-i also deeply reflects on the drunk driving incident and we apologize for causing social controversy." In the decision hearing, Kim Tae-i bowed her head, saying, "If you grant leniency, I will live my life reflecting on this incident so that such a thing never happens again."
The court reprimanded, "Mr. Kim made a false statement to the police who arrived, responding to the suggestion of Mr. Moon to conceal the fact of driving at the time of the crackdown, and the victim pleaded for severe punishment, claiming physical and mental damage from the accident. The danger of the act is highly condemnable."
"Although Mr. Kim showed efforts to compensate the victim with 5 million won as criminal restitution, the victim expressed a refusal, making it difficult to consider the circumstances for sentencing," the court continued, "However, Mr. Kim acknowledged all wrongdoings and showed remorse, and during the brief distance driven after being required to move the vehicle while waiting after calling a designated driver with Mr. Moon, we took into account the circumstances leading to the suspended sentence. The fact that he went to the police station and confessed his crime was also considered."
Meanwhile, Kim Tae-i, who debuted in 2016 with the drama 'Monster,' has appeared in dramas such as 'Hospital Playlist' and 'The Lady in Dignity,' and gained popularity after appearing in the 2022 TVING entertainment program 'Love Transfer 2.'
