Comedian Kim Sook revealed her past experience of being hit with a straw sandal by a senior comedian at KBS, evoking both shock and sympathy.
On Nov. 11, a video of the 521st episode of the podcast 'Secret Guarantee' featuring Song Eun-i and Kim Sook was released on the YouTube channel 'VIVO TV-비보티비'. In the episode, Song Eun-i and Kim Sook expressed their outrage over the story of a subscriber, referred to as 'Ddaengdae,' who was being deceived in a laundry game arranged by employees at a major domestic drugstore.
In particular, Kim Sook expressed her anger towards the subscriber, saying, "How traumatic is this for a fresh graduate just starting out in society?" He then shared painful memories from his own early career.
He revealed, "When I entered KBS at the age of 20, a senior who was 7 to 8 years older than me threw a straw sandal at me because I brought the wrong prop. That senior is struggling now," shocking everyone.
At that time, Song Eun-i, who was nearby, helped Kim Sook. She said, "When Kim Sook was hit with the straw sandal and had her head down, I said, 'Senior, what's wrong? I'll get the straw sandals,'" adding, "At that time, I remembered the shoe sizes of almost all the seniors."
Kim Sook lamented, "How could I have known that having just started?" Song Eun-i agreed, saying, "Right. You wouldn't know." She laughed while adding, "That's why I was from the 10th generation, and Kim Sook was from the 12th generation, but after that, I didn't make the 12th generation do errands." Kim Sook also burst into laughter, saying, "That's right. Song Eun-i carried the straw sandals for three years." Kim Sook continued, "Back then, I really disliked Song Eun-i. I was scolded for asking, 'Why can't you all be like Song Eun-i?'" laughing.
However, he confessed, "Honestly, being hit with a straw sandal was the least painful of all the times I was hit. But it hurt the most emotionally. Because it was the first time I was hit as an adult." Song Eun-i empathized, saying, "Right. How humiliating is that?"
Kim Sook debuted as a comedian in 1995 as part of KBS's 12th open recruitment.
